Beauty Review: LilyLolo Foundation for Pale Skin

Hey kittens!

I don’t usually post beauty posts but as I love reading cosmetics and make-up blogs so much, I thought I’d have a go and share my favourite foundation at the moment, especially as it seems to be such a good kept secret in the beauty community at the moment. It totally fulfils both my cosmetic and ethical needs from a beauty product.

Now, I know it’s no big secret – I’m pale. I’m probably the palest person you will ever meet. I’m as white as a ghost! Fortunately, I don’t mind; hell, I embrace it and have even learned to love it. After toying over the idea of fake tan when I was younger, experimenting a little but never, ever liking the way it looked on me, I quickly learned to love the shade of my skin. I mean – I always stood out at school anyway, I thought I might as well go the whole hog (or, errr, cat) and be myself completely.

I have to say I am very happy with my skin as it stands. I look after it: I cleanse, tone and moisturise every morning and night; I drink tons of water; I barely ever eat salty or greasy foods (apart from the occasional treat). I often go without make-up and have no qualms about popping to the shops with a completely bare face – I have no worries about it. However, whenever I am going somewhere a little more special, I think it’s just a case of presentation that I like to wear make-up. For special occasions or PR events, I will go ahead and wear quite a full coverage foundation, especially when I know I will be photographed. Yet, whenever I do this I always feel slightly guilty – it’s like I can feel the make-up clogging my pores and I can’t wait to cleanse my face when I get home!

Now, after receiving this cute little parcel from LilyLolo (fab name, isn’t it?) containing their Complexion Perfection Kit* I’ve discovered a new lease of life within my make-up routine. Instead of wearing liquid foundation every to work or going in with a bare face, this foundation and setting powder set gives me a perfect middle option. It’s light enough that I cannot feel any make-up on my skin and yet gives me a subtle coverage that makes me feel more confident in myself. I now use this Porcelain Mineral Foundation every working day as a base coverage, before adding some blusher and then finishing with a little of the pressed powder on top to finish the natural look.

The foundation base is the perfect shade for my skin – a first! I’ve bought the E.L.F. mineral foundation in the palest shade in the past, and it is far, far too dark and orange for me; it was a waste of money as I’ve ended up not being able to use it at all. As y’all kittens know, I have exceptionally pale skin with pink undertones, and this compliments it perfectly – if anything, it’s a little paler than my face and blends in perfectly with my body skin tone! This is a first and I cannot praise LilyLoLo enough for catering to such a pale tone – I have tried numerous foundations in the past that claim to and they have always been far too dark for me, even in the lightest option.

I also love the translucent powder, which not only compliments the LilyLoLo mineral foundation but works wonders over any other foundation. It gives your skin a little sheen without making yourself look  shiny, in a way I’ve not en-counted before even within big brands such as MAC. The kabuki brush provided in the kit works well with both powders, providing an even finish and spreading the product nicely – a bonus is how soft it is!

To be honest, the ethos behind this company is fantastic. None of the Lily Lolo range of cosmetics contains parabens, fragrances or fillers. They work with cosmetic scientists to ensure that the ingredients used are naturally derived, and we ensure that we steer well clear of any harsh chemicals and certainly controversial ingredients. They  do not test on animals and have achieved BUAV approval and 90% of their products are made in the UK.

However, the biggest bonus would have to be the claims of mineral-infused make-up which solidifies my love for this product. Not only this, but as y’all know I am a vegetarian and a huge endorsed of cruelty-free make-up and naturally sourced beauty products; LilyLoLo covers all of these demands PLUS catering for my rare skin tone.

I am sold. And I will 100% repurchase.
