Best Festive Candles 2015

best festive candles 2015

I have a confession to make: I’m a candle addict. It’s a hard and fast addiction. I can’t pass a candle without sniffing it and I can’t chill in the evening until I have one of my favourite flames on burn. I know a lot of people like sweet or vanilla scents, but they aren’t for me. I’m an all-year-round burner of Christmas and herbal scents, which is why I thought it was the perfect time to bring you my top picks for this year. Here are my Best Festive Candles 2015.

flamingo candles aromatherapy candles

Okay so my first candle isn’t strictly festive, but I am loving burning it this December. This is the Aromatherapy Candle from Flamingo Candles* at £12 for a really good size (50 hours of burn). I am a huge fan of Flamingo Gifts, which originated from their own candle company, so it’s no surprise to me that I am loving this Flamingo Candle. The jar signature flamingo jar with every candle is so cute, and this Aromatherapy one comes with a silver plaque on the front! The scent of this is so strong and smells just like massage oils, making me feel like I’m in a spa every time I burn it.

spiced apple mini candle

This next candle is very Christmassy, and a right bargain, too! It might look like a Yankee, but it’s actually a candle by Wickford and Co (no, I had never heard of them either) which I actually found hiding away in my local Home Bargains. It’s cost an incredible 49p! Can you believe it? I’ve tried a lot of cheap candles in my time and never repurchase, but after trying this Spiced Cinnamon scent out, I ran back to Home Bargains to stock up. It lasts for such a long time, smells (almost) as good as a yankee candle and is the best low-budget candle I have ever used. Try it!

mini neom bliss candle

On the other end of the price scale, this is a travel version of the Neom Complete Bliss Candle from Amara*. A luxury gift site, it’s no surprise that this candle has a luxury price tag at £16 for a mini pot, but that being said, it is a mini pot of bliss. This is the ultimate spa scent. It SMELLS expensive. It really is complete bliss in a scent, however, I have to say I don’t think it lasts quite as long as the Flamingo Candle, which I guess you would expect of something half the size. The full size version of this candle costs £45, also available from Amara.

the body shop christmas candle 2015

Back to something a little more affordable. This year is the first year The Body Shop have brought out candles (I believe) and I have been trying out their Frosted Plum Scented Candle*. As the name suggests, this is a more fruit Christmas smell, with notes of rip plum, peony and magnolia. The scent is more subtle but this is a nice take on a festive fragrance, plus, the price is really affordable at only £10 for a decent size in a lovely gift box. This would make a really nice present.

yankee candle christmas eve candle

My final favourite festive scent (and as it happens, my favourite candle EVER) is Yankee Candle Christmas Eve. Yankee Candles have such a bit hype around them, and as far as I’m concerned, they totally live up to it. They last for a long time, burn really well and the scent always spreads throughout the house. I stock up on this every festive season (particular in the January sales) and despite it’s highly Christmassy name, I burn this all year round. A large jar costs around £22 for 150 hours burn – trust me, it lasts for ages – and it’s scent is combination between sugared fruits and that subtle spa scent I love. It’s a firm festive favourite.

I’ve tried that Home Bargains scent but I couldn’t smell it once it was lit which is a shame. But it’s probably just me as i’m having trouble with all my candles this year! Have you tried the Frost Cranberry candle by The Body Shop? The scent of that range is amazing!

Oh no, I am so sad you couldn’t smell the Home Bargains candle! I really love it and it seems to work well for me. I’ve not tried the Frosted Cranberry body shop candle yet, good tip – I will try it out! x
