Clarins Autumn 2015 Collection

It seems like we’ve only just got enough sunny days here in Manchester to be able to call August ‘summer’ – but already it’s time to look forward to the Autumn Winter 2015 collections hitting the shelves. Today’s post is no exception, as I’m diving into my first Autumn 2015 product reviews in style with the new Clarins Autumn 2015 Make-up Collection.

My favourite bits I’ve tried form the Clarins Autumn 2015 collection so far are their Rouge Eclat lipsticks – which are actually my first try of Clarins lipsticks ever! The shades I’ve been trying out are the Rouge Eclat Lipstick in 22 Red Paprika* (pictured above centre) and 21 Tawny Rose* (pictured above right), both £19.50.

Both of these lipsticks are highly moisturising, almost feeling like a balm when you apply them. At first I was surprised, but when I checked out the ingredients it turns out the Rouge Eclat’s include Vitamin E to keep lips soft and Nutri-Youth Complex to protect lips against against (no, I’m not sure what that is either, but it sounds good and it feels darn good).

Both of these are also pretty pigmented, with Rouge Eclat 22 Red Paprika being a lovely dark orangey-red, and 21 Tawny Rose being a brown-ish nude. Naturally, 22 Red Paprika is my favourite of the two!

Now, on to the eyes! The first and most striking of the two eye items I tried was the Clarins Crayon Khol Eyeliner in shade 10 True Violet*.

Now, a purple eyeliner is not what you would usually call an ‘everyday shade’ for £17, but I can actually see this working for Autumn Winter 2015. As shown in the swatch above left, the purple is a very deep, dark purple; so, whilst it’s still purple, the colour is still subtle enough that it could be worked into an alternative take on a neutral smokey eye. In fact, using the brush on the other end of the pencil to blend out the colour could actually make for a gentle ‘colour pop’ in a winter night out look.

The other item I tried from the Autumn 2015 eyes collection was the Clarins Eyebrow Pencil in 03 Soft Blonde*, costing £17. Now… You may have noticed I am not blonde. My eyebrows are certainly no where near blonde. So although I have had a go of this, I can’t honestly say how it looks worn as I fear my black eyebrows aren’t exactly the right shade for this light brown-beige eyebrow colour. However, I can say that the pencil is very pigmented and applies softly. Again, this pencil is double sided, with one end the pencil nib and the other an eyebrow spooly brush, which I think is a really handy idea. Hopefully the above right swatch gives you some idea of colour – for me, I’ll be passing this one on to my very lucky blonde sister!

So, what would I recommend you buy from the Clarins Autumn 2015 collection ready for next season? I reckon it goes without saying that the lipsticks were definitely my preference over the eye items I tried. I think the colours of the lipsticks are beautiful and the softness of them on the lips makes them a pleasure to wear. If you’re looking for a subtle Autumn Winter colour, try the Tawny Rose shade – it’s practical, subtle enough and will go with pretty much any make-up look and any outfit. However, if your heart belongs to the red lipstick as mine does, splash out on the Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in 22 Red Paprika. You won’t regret it.
