Hot Swimwear Trends for Summer 2017

IMG_6782

Although the weather doesn’t always feel like it, it’s June and Summer is most definitely here! Although we might not get to wear bikinis or swimsuits much in the UK (if ever, in Manchester!) those of us lucky enough to be jetting off on our summer holidays will be looking for out for the top swimwear trends for Summer 2017. Personally, I’m off on a cruise at the end of the month (20 days to be precise, not that I’m counting!) and so I’m looking out for top swimwear trends, nightwear that will make me feel comfortable and for buying good quality lingerie and swimwear ready for my jollies.

Over the past few years, sales of luxury swimwear and underwear have risen steadily. Us women know that if we want to look and feel our best, it often starts from the bottom and so we can totally justify investing in buying good quality bikinis, pyjamas and lingerie. The right undergarments provide good support, which is essential if you want to achieve that flawless silhouette.

Now is definitely a great time to go out and treat yourself to some new lingerie and swimwear. This year, clothing designers have been busy and have come up with some fantastic new designs. There is more choice than ever before, and, importantly, it is no longer difficult to buy good quality plus size lingerie.

New luxury fabrics

Most designers have stuck to using lace, satin and manmade sheer fabrics. However, a few have started to experiment with other materials, with velvet being particularly popular.

Embroidery and other decorative embellishments

This year, there is some lovely richly embroidered lingerie available, with floral motifs being the most popular.  In addition, many designers have used ruffles, frills and appliqué to bring some extra interest to their collections.

Camisole tops

After many years of absence the camisole top is back. This soft lightweight lingerie is extremely comfortable to wear, especially under a blouse or top.

2017 Swimwear colour trends

There are still plenty of hot pink bikini and lingerie sets available, but gradually the bright colours of last year are giving way to lighter tones. Blush, mocha and cream are particularly popular.

Extra straps

One trend that has been carried over from last year and grown stronger is strappy swimwear and lingerie. A lot of designers have added extra straps to their bras and pants. They look amazing, no matter your body shape, because they draw the eye and provide extra definition.

Bodysuits are back in vogue

It has been a while since bodysuits and swimsuits were last in fashion, so it is nice to see them starting to become available again. The majority are made from lightweight materials, which means that they do not offer much in the way of support. Therefore, sadly, they are not suitable for every woman to wear – big busted ladies raise your hands! Fortunately, some support wear designers are tackling this issue. They are using modern fabrics and manufacturing techniques to make new style one pieces that look sexy, but still offer a good level of support. These are available in bigger sizes, which means that more women can enjoy wearing this very comfortable style of lingerie.

Peek-a-boo swimsuits and lingerie

A lot of designers are using peek-a-boo designs to get the balance between practicality and sexiness right. By combining sheer materials with mesh they have come up with designs that allow women to choose which bits of their body´s they want to reveal, and which areas they want to keep covered.

Buying the right style for you

With so much choice it is important to take your time when shopping and make sure that you buy the right style for you. It is especially important to buy the right cut for your body type. This infographic explains how to do exactly that.
