How to Style Sunglasses for Festivals

IMG_3342

Festival season is well and truly upon us! Although I’m personally not attending any festivals this year, I do often feel inspired by festival fashion, especially in the sunnier months. This July I’ve been playing around with two very different styles of sunglasses from The Glasses Shop* for two very different festival looks.

The first of sunglasses I tried from The Glasses Shop online store definitely play on the 1970’s trend that’s taken over high street fashion shops this Spring Summer 2015. Not one for flares or off-the-shoulder tops, a pair of shades are an easy way to infuse a little bit of 70’s into an outfit. If you’re on the look out for your own 70’s inspired pair, keep your eyes peeled for round frames, brown or tan lenses and a tortoise shell prints on the arms; these are all classic retro inspired features. Pair with a kimono, a feathered necklace and a good old flower headband and your boho look is pretty much festival-ready!

However, if you’re less boho and more rock chick, then you need to look for very different features in your chosen pair of shades! Colour wise, you need to be looking for black or primary colours if you really want to inject a little bit of ‘alternative’ into your look. These ones are perfect, as they incorporate a black frame with blue polarised lenses. Speaking of which, polarised lenses are very rockstar and reminiscent of classic aviator style shades. As I know aviator sunglasses don’t suit my face shape, I went for more of a square shape instead, with the added detail of a gold bar pairing the lenses together. Any detail like this is sure to be remembered! The ones I’m styling here are very much a statement item, so I stripped off the rest of my accessories and let these babies do the talking.

Honestly, there are SO many sunglasses types to choose from these days that it can be kinda hard to pick out your favourites, but these two pairs are just so different that I’m set to wear them interchangeable for the whole summer. They might not be designer, but they’re certainly statement shades and at a cheap price (around £10 each) I won’t be too upset if they don’t last ’til next festival season!

Hopefully this post has given you a few tips and hints of what to look out for when thinking about how to style sunglasses for festivals this year – or simply a little bit of inspiration if you’re looking for some different accessories this SS15.

I’m pretty sure you will get this all the time, but I’m just gonna say it, your hair is absolutely GORGEOUS! It looks so well tamed :)
I struggle to rock sunglasses as I have such a pea-sized head (LOL!) so finding the right pair of sunglasses is a must for me!

Aw thank you so much, Bee – I think I’ve just managed to find some products and a routine that work for me now so I’m sticking with them!

And I think I have the opposite problem with sunglasses… I can’t wear small ones because they make my head look too big! Haha! x
