Jurlique Skincare Review and Swatches

Hey kittens, today’s blog post is a bumper Jurlique skincare review – a brand I have never delved into before. When I was discussing with blogger pal Vicki on Twitter that I had never tried Jurlique (a brand she loves!), Jurlique got in touch directly to ask whether I would like to sample some of their products. After a consultation on my skincare concerns – and me giving the go ahead for them to advise on what would be best for me – Jurlique kindly sent out this pack* for me to have a try of.

The first item I want to talk about is the Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder*. This is a products I was surprised to see in my neatly wrapped gift box, as when I think of Jurlique, I immediately think skincare, not cosmetics. This is a translucent powder used to complete a makeup look, with a quick dust over the skin. I have personally chosen to use this with a brush as I find that they give a nicer finish than most applicators that come with makeup. I have used this daily since recieving it and a little goes a long way. A little applied twice a day to my T-Zone helps to mattify my skin without completely flattening it, which is a tricky balance to get.

Now, back to skincare! An item I was excited to try from Jurlique was their Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum*. This is an anti-aging serum which aims to restore a youthful appearance to the skin. Now, I am fortune that I have not yet developed any wrinkles so can’t give a fair review on whether this improves the look of fine lines. However, I do like how smooth this leaves my skin feeling. At £45 it is a little pricey, but compared to some other well known anti-aging serums (cough, Khiel’s Midnight Recovery) it weighs in at a similar cost. However, what I like about this is that it boasts an all natural ingredients list, which is something I prefer to look for in skincare. No one wants harsh chemicals on their face!

A little cheaper is the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist*, at only £17. I tried to swatch this but it just looks a bit like I have a wet hand. Probably because I kinda do. This is a facial spray promising to rebalance the skin of normal and combination skin. I couldn’t say whether it does this, but it is definitely hydrating and refreshing to use. To be honest, this isn’t the sort of item I use on a regular basis and so I wouldn’t repurchase it, and I often find myself forgetting to use it, but if you are in to mists then this has a lovely scent.

This next item is also a product I wouldn’t have bought myself, but putting my skincare in the hands of Jurlique, they gave me their Herbal Recovery Antioxident Gel Mask* to have a try of. I usually steer clear of gel products, particularly face washes, as I find they don’t do my combination skin much good and don’t leave me skin feeling as ‘clean’ as I desire, however this gel mask is something different. The herbal smell is to die for – reminds me of visiting a spa  – and my skin feels fresh and smooth after leaving this on for 10 minutes. Jurlique recommend using this two or three times a week, however I have chosen to use it once a week for a couple of weeks and feel this works nicely for me.

The final item I have been testing out is the Jurlique Rose Moisturising Cleanser*. This is a product I love and have been using every morning for a couple of weeks. I use this as a morning cleanse as I prefer to use a hot cloth cleanser for taking my make-up off (and giving my face a harder scrub) but in the mornings I like to use something more gentle. And gentle this is. It cleanses my sensitive skin without any burning, stinging and leaves my face feeling soft and clean. It is a lovely cleanser and I can see myself repurchasing this.

Over all, I have been impressed with Jurlique’s collection. Natural skincare is definitely something I prefer over more ‘science’ based formulas and as I get older – not THAT old, yet! – I care more about the ingredients within the products I use. Think about it; if you wouldn’t eat chemicals, would you really want to put them on your skin? Not me. And this is where Jurlique has impressed me.
