Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer Launch

Hey kittens! Does anyone fancy a mid week pick me up? I know my skin often needs a hump day boost and so I thought this Kiehl’s event post would be a very timely little article to post. After all, is there a product better than the newly named “Skin Rescuer” better fitted to answer our cry?

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to Selfridges Exchange Square (a store I’m very fond of, as y’all can see from my previous blog posts here on Dig The City, here on Mary Katrantzou’s visit to Manchester and here on Paige Denim visiting the store, too) to meet the Kiehl’s team on their concessionary counter. Now, I gotta confession to make – I’ve never visited the Kiehl‘s counter before, let alone tried any of their products. Hands up if anyone else feels intimidated approaching luxury beauty stands!

The event was to celebrate the launch of their new moisturiser, Skin Rescuer. A pretty dramatic name, huh? Well, it’s based on the idea of literally rescuing your skin from stress, apparently the first moisturiser to do so. It’s said to combat both the short-term visible signs and long term premature aging effect that stress can have on skin, with clinical results showing that 100% of those tested showed a significant improvement in overall skin quality, dryness and blotchiness. Hm, a big claim, but it’s worth a try, right? I know that personally stress does impact my skin. I don’t break out as such, but I do get blotchy and pale (wow, that’s unusual for me, right?!) so I was intrigued to find out more about Skin Rescuer.

Upon arriving at the store, my hesitation to visit the Kiehl’s counter before started to seem pretty silly. I was warmly greeted by three lovely members of staff – two skin experts who work at the counter and lovely Jen from Loreal’s PR company. It was really interesting to hear what Jen and the counter staff had to say about Kiehl’s (with a glass of champagne making it all the sweeter). My favourite part was learning about the heritage of Kiehl’s, as it was founded 160 years ago as a New York apothecary. Can you spot the founding date in my pictures?

As y’all know, I’m a huge advocate of natural skincare products and it turns out Kiehl’s is a fan of this, too. I was also surprised to learn they don’t include scents in their products; amazing, as some of their items smell gorgeous! I especially liked the scent of one of their most famous items, Creme de Corps, a body moisturiser which is one of our legendary VOGUE editor’s Holy Grail products. Speaking of Vogue, did you seem my post on their Fashion Night Out?

Over all, it was a lovely, chilled night having a glass of bubbly and talking beauty treatments with some fellow bloggers. A far cry from the pretentious atmosphere I felt there might have been! In fact, despite being such a massive luxury brand, Kiehl’s seem to have an air of fun about them. Check out my pictures of “Mr Bones” for example – apparently it’s tradition to have a doctor’s skeleton at every concession to resemble the very first Kiehl’ss store in new york. Kinda cute, huh?

I’m looking forward to trying out some more Kiehl’s items and telling y’all what I think. Would you be interested in a review of Skin Rescuer? Have you tried Kiehl’s before?
