Mexican Street Food in Manchester

IMG_0624

Manchester is known for its diversity and it’s one of the reasons I am proud to live here. I love how different cultures come together in fashion, music and even food, and I am lucky to be able to try all different types of cuisine on a regular basis. Recently, I was invited to try some Mexican Street Food in Manchester… But don’t worry, if you’re not from here you can grab this pretty much anywhere. Lucky you!

I was actually invited to Chiquito in The Printworks, Manchester – which is right in the centre of town – to try out their new Mexican Street Food range. Never one to turn down some good Mexican snacks, I just couldn’t resist seeing what they had to offer, so I grabbed a mate and headed down.

We started off with a cocktail each – I went for a Raspberry Dacquiri and my friend went for a Mango Dacquiri, both of which were perfection! – and were served with some nibbles of salty popcorn. For starters, I chose Halloumi Skewers (duh! My fav!) and my guest went for Chicken Wings. Both of these were good size portions and served really quickly, which is impressive as the restaurant was busy on an evening in the centre of town.

Of course, that was just to get us warmed up for the main event: our Mexican Street Food. Chiquito have introduced a new Street Food menu that allows you to pick and mix your favourite mini portions (almost like Tapas) and it costs just 3 for £12.95 or 6 for £23.95. We decided to pick six to share – I would say three each is plenty enough! – and went for a mixture of all different dishes, including: Quesadillas Bites, Meatballs, Empanadas, Patatas bravas, Pan-Fried Chorizo and Tortilla Stack. I have to say I much prefer this way of dining; I like to mix and match what I have so I get to try a bit of everything, and even though each individual dish was small, being able to pick bits here and there definitely added up!

If you’re new to Mexican Food or simply want to try something different without going -all out- then I would certainly recommend Chiquito. The one in The Printworks in Manchester is super handy if you’re shopping or want a quick bite before the cinema, or if you want to grab a quick dinner before drinks in the surrounding bars.
