Cherry Blossoms and Monochrome Maxi Dress

IMG_9297

There’s something about falling cherry blossoms that is so undeniably beautiful; they’re almost more beautiful on the floor than on the tree. I remember at university we learnt about the Japanese cherry blossom festival, how it’s the national flower and how it signifies mortality. Cherry blossoms, or Sakuras, as they are known in Japan, are often thought to represent the circle of life and without getting too deep in an Outfit of the Day post, they’re kinda too beautiful to ignore.

I can’t say I planned my monochrome outfit to go with the cherry blossoms but I have to admit it goes quite well.. Kinda! All black isn’t ideal for Spring so for this work day outfit I went for some subtle monochrome patterns. This monochrome maxi dress was from Matalan a few years ago and I liked the shape so much that I bought it in blue too. It’s often hard to find a maxi dress that isn’t all bare shoulders and boobs (bit inappropriate for the office), and I love how this one covers me all up but you can still see a bit of collar bone and waist to give me a bit of shape.

It just so happens that my accessories went really well. I use this Marc B Chrissy bag everyday for work as it’s just so big and practical, and although I’ve been using it every day for 4 months I still get compliments on my ‘new bag’ because it’s stayed in such a good condition! Same with my lovely Rocket Dog Chevron sandals – as always they’re super comfortable but you could easily mistake these for a designer pair. Plus, the pattern on them just goes SO well with the maxi dress…
