Netflix and Chill: Exclusive Screening at Manchester Victoria Warehouse

Netfix and Chill. Those three words which are now such common dialect worldwide that really they should be added to the Oxford dictionary – so simple and yet we all know what it means, right? Well, most of us, and when Netflix themselves invited me to chill with them at Manchester Victoria Warehouse for an exclusive preview of one of their new shoes and to learn more about everyone’s favourite streaming service. Although, spoiler alert: it wasn’t THAT type of Netflix and Chill!

So, with an offer of ‘netflix and chill’ that couldn’t be refused, I headed to Salford to go to the Manchester Victoria Warehouse. As part of a whole UK tour, the team were sharing results of a nationwide survey to reveal exactly what customers across the UK had been watching and what their favourites were!

Apparently, Netflix members in the North West perfer factual content – which as a documentary lover myself I can totally relate to. Peeople like us, in Manchester, apparently really enjoy reality series, ranging from the true and thought-provoking, like documentaries Amanda Knox and Making A Murderer, to the loud and outlandish, like reality series RuPauls’ Drag Race and Hell’s Kitchen. Totally guilty – I’ve watched all of them!

The location itself was great, too. I’d been to this venue previously for a Manchester themed gig in the event space, but this event was taking place in the hotel. We met at the reception where an area had been set up with a very cool Netflix branded set – complete with TV, candles, flowers, cushions and mugs. Like your very own Netflix set up at home!

We were invited to try some cocktails as we chatted to the Netflix team about our own experiences of the service and what we loved.  It was great to see how enthusiastic the team were about the service and how proud they are of all the TV, documentaries and movies that are streamed on the service. They were keen to know what type of shows we were all into and were all very knowledgeable about each of the shows, which was great to see. They clearly live and breathe Netflix (and with such a cool job, who wouldn’t love it?!).

They even let us know about some super cool upcoming series that are yet to be released – and let me just say, I can’t wait for summer! (And not just for the sun!). I am particularly looking forward to the release of  Girlboss – a theme I am totally in favour of! Girlboss is inspired by the New York Times best-selling book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal.

After a while of mingling we were invited into a small, kitsch style cinema in the Manchester Victoria Warehouse hotel with just about 20 seats. With a champagne in hand and the curtains shut, we were given an exclusive preview of the new hyped Netflix series ’13 Reasons Why’. We were shown the first episode before anyone else in the world and, being given our own 6 month subscriptions to the service, I went home and watched the rest as soon as they came out – seriously, you need to check out this series by Selena Gomez if you haven’t already!

It’s great for on the go and I personally love to stream it from my iPad in bed when I’m just too tired to go downstairs and watch TV. It’s a thumbs up from me!
