Outfit of the Day: Springtime Smart

Shorts: So In Fashion – Shirt: So In Fashion – Flatforms: Peacocks – Necklace: Jon Richard
Hey kittens,
As the clocks have turned forwards this week, I guess it’s “officially” summer. And for once, whilst it’s snowing down South, Manchester has had pretty good weather – in fact, it hasn’t even rained in a while!
So, as we Mancunians don’t see the sun very often, I lept at the chance to wear a lovely Springtime outfit. Although, lets be honest, before heading out I had to slip on a quick jacket (it’s not that sunny after all!)

As y’all kittens know, I am a huge fan of formal wear and I’m forever in shirts, so when I spied this chiffon blouse on So In Fashion I just had to have it! This sleeveless sheer blouse if beautifully finished with detailing around the collar and sleeves of the shirt., not forgetting the delicately embroidered floral detail among the collar of the shirt. I just absolutely adore the indulgent embroidery on the collar. It is so reminiscent of a designer vintage item and I couldn’t believe it was a bargain at only £22.

I’m gonna be wearing this shirt throughout Spring, Summer and even Autumn and Winter paired with a blazer or even a leather jacket to toughen it up. The quality of this shirt really is superb and I’ve already worn it with black skinny jeans to work – I can see it becoming a firm wardrobe favourite!

The shorts are also by So In Fashion – could you tell from the embroidery detail, again? I couldn’t resist but pair these items together, almost in a suit-esque style. The shorts are also chiffon (but not transparent  thank the kitten Gods for that!) which makes such a lovely change from the plethora of denim hot pants on the market recently. For a formal lover like me, denim shorts aren’t always appropriate and I love the way these shorts really smarten up a kinda scimpy outfit.

Again, the shorts are hand-sewen and embroided with vibrant cotton in a floral pattern, much like the shirt. They zip together with a hidden join at the side and are fairly high waisted, which I find to be quite flattering on my body shape. Over all, I’m in love with this set from So In Fashion – the website has really stood out to me as having unqiue items not seen elsewhere, such high quality (they arrived in a stunning tissue paper package) and are yet still so affordable. Twenty quid for these shorts are a bargain!

To keep the look smart-casual, I wore my trusty Peacocks flatforms – that’s platforms, but with a flat heel – to complete the look. Not only are these wedges bang on trend with the ankle strap (a nod to the high end of Zara fashion) but they’re unbelievably comfortable. I’ve been loving wearing these to events recently – watch out for me wearing them in my Runway on the Runway post coming up – and despite wearing them all night they don’t hurt at all. Hello, my footsie favs!
As the shorts and shirt carried such intimate detailing, I didn’t want to wear too many accessories that might over power the look, so I simply added this chunky yet demure J by Jasper Conran necklace from Jon Richard. Jon Richard always seem to have the perfect mix between glamour and wearability and for that reason, I always see myself reaching to my jewellery from there as my go-to pieces.
So kittens, will you be wearing shorts this spring? Let me know in the comments below! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
