Review: Balmi Lip Balm

Hey kittens!

I’ve had a lot of positive feedback regarding my recent delve into beauty blogging, so I thought I’d tell you about another cute brand I’ve been loving at the moment!

Recently I had the pleasure of trying two Balmi lip balms* (geddit? BALMi?) in raspberry* and coconut*. Now, I hadn’t previously heard of Balmi but straight away I thought these items looked like the EOS lip balms that beauty bloggers have been raving about overseas in the USA – I even know bloggers that have had our American friends send them a couple over to try. So, right away I was excited – I was part of this new ball-shape lip balm revolution!

After looking further into the brand, I realised they hale from good old Salford and y’all kittens know I love a good local brand! It always sits better with me to support a company that is local to help strengthen the Manchester community, so I was delighted to hear that they live so close to my little kitten cat bed.

Another bonus I found is that they don’t test on animals – if you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’m a vegetarian and a strong advocate of cruelty-free products, so this is a huge plus in my books. I would never want to harm a fellow kitten love! I also discovered that their products are all totally vegetarian and vegan okay – although I am not a vegan myself in terms of food, I strive to make sure all my cosmetics are totally free of animal cruelty. This is often rare to find, so Balmi gets another tick alongside their name!

In terms of the product itself, I’ve trialled both flavours daily (several times a day) for over a month and I have to say I am impressed. The Balmi Lip Balm has been designed to not only provide moisturisation for your Lips but also protection from harmful UVA rays. Fully tested, the Balmi Lip Balm provides SPF 15 and UVA protection making Balmi the essential accessory for your lips – I love this idea, as I always make sure my facial moisturiser has SPF within in, but it’s so easy to forget about protecting your lips! The amazing smell and flavour of both the raspberry and coconut is also a bonus. Their special blend of Balmi moisturising goodness containing antioxidant-rich Vitamin E, soothing Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil to help leave your lips moisturised, soft and super smooth. Although I am not a fan of coconut flavours usually, this has more of a coco-butter fragrance and I actually adore it.

As well as the fact that these lip balms do wonders to keep my lips moisturised, the packaging is also a huge benefit for me. As well as looking cute and fitting in with the current craze I spoke about earlier, the round shape saves you faffing and fiddling to dip in your finger and contaminating you Lip Balm pot or tin. As my kittens know, I am a bit of a clean freak, so the hygienic element to Balmi is a fab feature – especially in winter when you really need lip balm the most, yet also carry the most germs around on your hands. Plus, they come with a handy key chain, so these little balls don’t go rolling around in your bag.

Over all, I’ve been very impressed with Balmi and would love to try moer from the I Love… Cosmetics umbrella brand. The main bonus points for Balmi from me come from their vegan ingredients, Salford location and hygienic packaging – three gold stars! Oh, and not to forget the amazing smell of each of these flavours… Make that 4 stars!
