Review: Phoenix Jayy

Hey kittens! I’ve got a review and first impression blog post for you today about an amazing new jewellery company which I just know you are all going to love. So, lets get started!

The other day I recieved a very exciting little package from Phoenixx Jay, a London jewellery company founded last year. It boasts clients such as the beautiful Lucy Mecklenburgh from the ITV2 hit TV show The Only Way Is Essex and has recently appeared in Harper’s, Elle and Vogue – thats enough to give me a great fist impression! They also pride themselves on handmade designs and providing Phoenix Jayy’s motto of “luxury fashion jewellery without the luxury price tag”.

The package itself was amazingly well wrapped, with yards of bubble wrap to ensure there would be no damages in the post. This was the second positive tick against Phoenix Jayy‘s name, as damage is always a concern of mine when purchasing jewellery off the internet. It also arrived via special next day delivery, ensuring it would not be lost in the transportation – yet again, another positive, as no one wants their special jewellery to go walkies in the post. Under the bubble wrap were a good few layers of tissue paper – I felt like I was unwrapping a birthday present! This instantly gave me a special feeling about Phoenix Jayy, as though it was Christmas morning and I was recieving a present I had been lusting over all year.

Underneath the tissue paper, I began to get even more excited! Look at these stunning gift boxes that I found – they were wrapped in black and gold ribbon, a touch that I’ve rarely experienced from the most expensive jewellery shops. Alas, I must confess that having been a student for near enough my entire life I haven’t experienced many expensive jewellery boutiques, but one can dream(!) and this certainly made me feel as though I was in a dream! The boxes themselves felt almost cushioned they were that thick. They were white all over with a black damask pattern on the lid and the stylish yet sophisticated Phoenix Jayy logo was hiding under the ribbon. Beautiful. I couldn’t wait to unbox the first item!

Words can’t express how delighted I was to find this Shimmering Rose Ring within the first box. Now, Phoenix Jayy make a variety of stunning gemstone rings but this one has to be my favourite. This is an undeniably unique and beautifully designed ring in the shape of a rose – how unique! It’s silver and decorated with
white cubic zircona and completed with seven further CZ stones in the centre. This
large statement ring oozes elegance and style. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with the details of it – the way the petals wave and the creases on the top of the petals. I couldn’t wait to try it on!

I loved the ring even more once it was on! Its heavy (in a good way) and fitted perfectly. I chose size Small as I have quite skinny fingers and I find most rings to be too big for me but I was pleasantly surprised to find this fitted perfectly. I didn’t feel as though it would fall off or come unsafe if I was wearing it for a long amount of time, yet it certainly wasn’t tight. It was definitely true to their size guide, which is a trait hard to come by via internet shopping. It costs £47.00, which I must confess would usually be out of my price range but, strange to say, I actually thought it was a bit of a bargain for such a crystal-covered ring. It really does scream “luxury quality” at me and as a piece which I would be happy to save my pennys for, doesn’t seem unreasonable at all.
Before I conclude with my thoughts about the ring, I just have to show you what came in the second box and safe to say, I was not disappointed.

The second box (which again, was cushioned to prevent damages as well as being beautifully packaged) contained this Glitterati Bangle. Wow! Could you get any more diamantes on this bracelet? This  handcrafted ‘Glitterati Bangle’ is adorned with stunning crystals and has a captivating sparkle that would be the perfect addition
to glamorous eveningwear. I instantly thought that it would make the perfect Christmas gift for any girl, irrelevant of fashion taste or style; this is definitely a piece that is timeless and all encompassing. The bangle costs £28.00 which I feel is even better value than the Shimmering Rose Ring. Phoenix Jayy’s bangles range from £25 to £65, so whilst it is at the lower end of their market, I feel it is comparable to a piece of luxury jewellery at a price that seems in the perfect budget range for a gift. It certainly lives up to Phoenix Jayy’s motto of “luxury fashion jewellery without the luxury price tag”. I may have to purchase a duplicate of this for a friend! That is how much I reccommend it.

My only reservation on this item would be that it did fit quite snugly when transferring it over my hand, despite the fact that I have very narrow wrists for my age. I might worry that as this only comes in one size, that if I do buy this as a gift then it might not fit. However, the communication from my contact at Phoenix Jayy has been impeccible and I am sure this is only a reflection of their great customer service, should a return need to be made.

I couldn’t wait to wear them out and get a real feel for the items!

I wore the items for a whole weekend to get a real feel for them and so I could give you all an honest review. The bangle, although looks big, didn’t ever run the risk of falling off my hand. I wore this for two days and not one crystal fell off or out of its shell – this would have been a telltale sign of a cheaply made bracelet. After the weekend, you couldn’t even tell I had been wearing this bracelet almost non stop, as there were no signs of wear and tear. I’m extremely happy with its durability, which is a rare thing to find in fashion jewellery.

I also experienced no loss of crystals, scratches or fading when wearing the ring for the weekend. Although it did get in the way a little bit (I’m not sure cocktail rings were designed for doing the washing up), this is only because I was acting in my every day way whilst wearing a ring which has been created for special occassions! As I said before, I am in love with this ring. It is so unique yet the quirkiness does not take away from its sophistication or quality. The features on it are so thick that the 3D nature of it doesn’t make me nervous about it breaking or snapping during use. It really is a luxury item.

An added bonus is that the items go well together! In fact, I think you could pretty much mix and match a whole look from the Phoenix Jayy website and all the items would coincide well with each other. They have a fab collection of rings, bangles, earrings and necklaces, as well as a luxury collection for those even more special occassions. As all their items are of silver colour and mostly made using white cubic zircona (aside from stunning colour accent pieces such as the Flower Stargaze bangle and the Elegant Champagne Oval earrings) I feel you could create your very own set of jewellery from picking any that you like to go together. Probably one of the most glamorous pic’n’mixes you will ever buy!

To conclude, I could not be happier with my Phoenix Jayy jewellery pieces. They provide luxury boutique jewellery at high street prices – I admit, not Primark prices, more like Topshop prices, but its definitely a trade off for the quality you recieve for the price. Although they’d usually be a big out of my price range, they do provide 10% student discount which is something I’ve never seen before on jewellery websites and as I said before, the items really are good value for money considering their beautiful quality. Its hard to pick up on camera just how sparkly the crystals really are!

What do you kittens think of these pieces? Would you wear them yourself or buy them as a gift? How would you style them?

If you want to see how I styled the items, stay turned for my little black dress “How I Style” video coming very soon – these items are just perfect for the party season!
