Risk Couture Store Opening

Hey kittens,
Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the store launch of Risk Couture in Manchester. The store is located just within the Northern Quarter on Swan Street – suitably quirky – and is an independent boutique specialising in printed clothing.

Often featured in the media wearing Risk Couture, The Only Way Is Essex star, Mario Falcone, seemed happy to open the store in front of the UK press. After the official cutting of the ribbon (which just may have happened twice, but who can blame them for milking it?) we were all welcomed into the store with glasses of champagne – kittens after my own heart!

Created by Fiston Hoyi, the name “Risk Couture” came from the symbol asterisk, using the last four letters, get it? I know, I was confused too, until I saw the amount of asterisk use on their garmets, used to censor swear words and other dirty words – naughty! But then, I guess that’s the whole idea behind the brand, kittens – to take a risk.

Since 2010, Risk Couture has grown a celebrity following and is often pictured in the media by tabloid favourites – an idea Fiston had behind the brand to pay little or nothing for promo. Clever, huh? Not only is Mario Falcone an endorser of “taking a risk” (who might I add, was lovely) but another infamous Mario – Balotelli, to be precise – also has strong connections with the brand.

Now, I gotta be honest when I say that this isn’t the usual clobber I’d wear. Y’all know I love my shirts, I like to look formal even when casual and I like my dresses – Risk Couture does none of this. It’s all about T-shirts, Vests and Phone Cases. And whilst that’s not to my taste, the turn out was large enough to show that it’s deffo a popular market to be in.

Entertainment at the event was also provided by local magician, Danny Jewell, who stunned me with several tricks. I chose a card from the deck and he, quite literally, coughed up the right one. Kinda disgusting yet kinda thrilling. It amazes me how magicians can seem to make things disappear and reappear right in front of your eyes – it’s magical!

Of the event, Risk Couture said “Many Joined us for food, drinks and swag on Thursday 28th March as we celebrated the opening of Risk Couture fashion show room in the Northern Quarter.Risk Couture, a new fashion forward show room hosted by Mario Falcone and Managing Director Fiston Hoyi. They welcome you into a sophisticated cosmopolitan boutique selling custom made and unique clothing designs for men and women along with accessories. After party was held at eivissa 10pm to 4am with Mario Falcone.”

For anyone interested in what I wore to the event (come on, we all love fashion here!) I wore this super cute block colour sheer shirt from Mary Jane Fashion – watch out for it in an OOTD coming soon – tucked into black disco pants. To keep it smart casual, I wore my black studded bucket bag from La Moda (the perfect size for keeping my camera in) with my black chelsea boots and my statement faux fur coat I invested in from Biba!
So kittens, have you heard of Risk Couture? Are you ready to take a risk? Let me know in the comments below! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!

The designer of my dress responded quickly to inquiries and the dress did arrive faster than expected. For me it was a bit long, even with heels, and I'm 5'5. If you are petite, expect to have to have it fitted.

There aren't many downsides to being wealthy, other than paying taxes and having relatives asking for money. But being a famous celebrity is a 24 hour job.
