Scene Indian Street Kitchen, Spinningfields Manchester

Scene Indian Street Kitchen, Spinningfields Manchester Indian Cuisine is one of my favourites and I am so lucky to live in Manchester where there is so much choice – hey, we even have a mile named after curry! The newest contender in the city centre is Scene Indian Street Kitchen, Spinningfields Manchester, which pride itself on dishes inspired by the street food vendors of India, Pakistan and Southern Asia. With it’s central location and a rumour for good food and classy customers, I was excited to pop along and see what they had to offer for myself. Spoiler alert: I was not disappointed!

We were welcomed into a booth at Scene Indian Street Kitchen, Spinningfields Manchester, and the staff who greeted us were all extremely welcoming. Our waiter was also helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes and helped to recommend the perfect white. Although Scene do a whole range of different types of poppadoms and nibbles, including Far Far Chokdi (a colourful Indian snack) and Nachos and Cheese (an unusual option for an Indian) we were basic bitches and went for a traditional poppadom each. You can’t beat a good poppadom and dips and these were great!

For starters we tried a vegetarian and fish starter as we new our mains would be heavy. I went for my favourite Indian starter of Onion Bhaji (£3.95). I consider myself quite the Onion Bhaji expert and can confirm that these lightly battered, crisp golden brown bhajis did not let me down. My boyfriend tried the Fish Amrisari (crispy lightly battered cod costing £5.95) and these were delicious! I never would have usually ordered fish as a starter but this will be my choice next time. Yum.

Scene have an incredible amount of choice on their menu and so for my main I chose Paneer Butter Masala – a creamy yet flavoursome dish with one of my favourite ingredients that I only truly eat when out for an Indian, Paneer. The vegetarian dishes cost £7.95 for the main and £4.95 for a side (we shared nan bread and basmatti pilau rice), which I think is a reasonable price especially for the quality. It was a delicious curry and you could taste the selection of spices within it.

My boyfriend opted for the Balti… Which our lovely waiter tried to warn him about several times! Infamous as being the hottest Indian dish, he took a brave choice but one that he did not regret. Despite our waiter letting us know that it would be incredible spicy (which it was!) Jonathan truly enjoyed it. Hey, he loves a hottie… (Me!)

I would totally recommend Scene Indian Street Kitchen, Spinningfields Manchester to anyone looking for a lovely meal in Manchester. Curry lover or not, you will 100% find something delicious and exciting on this extensive menu, and I can’t wait to treat my boyfriend to another meal here soon.
