Simon & Tom Eyelash Serum and Soft Peeling Gel Review

Trying new brands is always fun, so when Simon & Tom asked me if I would like to try out a couple of items from their range of beauty and skincare items, I said ‘yes please, that would be fun’. I’d never heard of Simon & Tom before, and if you haven’t either, they’re a cosmetic company based in Spain and all their products include Moroccan Argan Oil and other beneficial natural ingredients. They sent me over their Eyelashes Growth Serum and Soft Peeling Gel to have a try of.

The first item I tried was the Simon & Tom Skincare Soft Peeling Gel. Now, I need to disclaimer this by saying that if you are regular readers of my blog (which I hope you are!) you will know I have pretty sensitive skin and it can make trying skincare products risky. This product is advised to be used twice a week as an exfoliater, taking a little and massaging it directly into your skin. In some ways, I found it to be more gentle than an exfoliater (it doesn’t have the usual grittiness of other products), but it did leave my skin feeling tingly. For most people, this is probably an indicator of the product working, but honestly it scared me a little that I would break out, and so I have stopped using this and given it to my mum instead. I reckon it will probably work better with mature, tougher skin (sorry, Momma, haha!).
The second product I tried was the Simon & Tom Eyelashes Growth Serum with Argan Oil. Now, Argan Oil has become a bit of a craze over the past couple of years for encouraging hair growth and the condition of hair, so it seems to make sense to use it where you want other hair to grow – on your eyelashes and eyebrows. I used this every night for a couple of weeks on my eyebrows and eyelashes, but to be honest I didn’t notice any different really. I am quite lucky (or unlucky, in some contexts!) that I have naturally dark, thick hair anyway and am often complimented on my eyelash length, so perhaps I just didn’t need it? Either way, I didn’t notice any negative effects and I like to think that if anything the product may have helped the condition of both? Worth a try, I guess.
