Although with the typically rainy Manchester weather it might not feel like it, Summer is well and truly here and as we switch up our makeup and clothes for the new seasons, it’s only right we make some changes in our home too! I’m at the point in my life where I am looking to make a house a home, and so feeling inspired, today I’ve put together a list of my Top 5 Summer Homewear Trends for SS16, to help upgrade your interiors for this season.

  1. Blush Pink I’m typically not a very ‘pink’ girly girl, but blush pink is everyone in the home scene right now and I am really loving it. It’s subtle colour makes it neutral enough to go with a lot of other shades (I often see is paired with greys and whites), but means that it’s not boring like other transitional shades. I would choose blush pink over beige any day!
  2. Copper I think this one is a an obvious if you’ve been into ANY homewear sections this year, but copper accessories are firmly in the interior decor scene and they ain’t going anywhere. Of course you can get larger accessories such as mirrors and tables, but a cheap way to upgrade your home for summer is to switch up your usual candle holders, coffee pots and utensils with a spot of copper. A small change that will update your home quickly for summer.
  3. The 70’s – As with fashion right now, the 70’s are ‘totally’ in and retro style is taking over furniture inspiration. The angular shapes of charges, the circle sunburst mirrors, the freestanding studio lights; there’s just so much decor inspired by the era that it’s hard to avoid. If you don’t want to commit to a busy statement wall of retro inspired green and orange paper, then simply change up your armchair for a more angular version.
  4. Boho – Another trend reflected in fashion, boho inspiration seems to come around most summers and with interior decor it is no different. Try adding some fairy lights to your garden, a Moroccan inspired candle lamp or a brightly patterned string rug to add some festival vibes to your home this summer.
  5. Wooden Panels – A classic staple to any home, wooden panels haven’t just made a comeback through flooring (although yes please, I would have a wooden floor any day of the week), this summer we are seeing more and more home renovations with people adding these to walls. Instead of painting over flat walls for a Scandi look, there’s been a surge of people purposefully creating panelled rooms to recreate that vintage, classic look, and it’s one that I hope to add to my own home, too.

So, I hope that’s given you a little bit of food for tought if you’re looking to complete a homewear haul or do a little bit of DIY these summer holidays. Major inspiration for this post has come from one of my favourite interiors and home websites, Nest, which is providing me tons of cool ideas for my own home right now.
