3 Days ’til VOGUE’s Fashion Night Out: Department Stores

Hey kittens, it’s Monday and it’s finally the week of VOGUE’s Fashion Night Out in Manchester – eek! It’s nearly here and in celebration of what is to come this week, I’m going to be highlighting my top picks for the night as part of my VOGUE #FNO Manchester blog series countdown!

Today’s blog post is going to be my top picks of the department stores taking part in #FNO. As a huge lover of all things department store on my blog (for more, check out my favourite Harvey Nichols blog post here and Selfridges here), I’m delighted to hear that some of our city’s most iconic and heritage stores will be taking part in the night. So, here are my recommendations for where to visit…

So, first thing’s first; Harvey Nics. Undoubtedly Manchester’s most exclusive department store, Harvey Nichols will not only be celebrating Fashion’s Night Out, they’ll also be holding their own party – a birthday party! I’m hoping to stop by my favourite multi-shop stop to wish them a very happy 10th b’day, whch they’ll be toasting to from 6pm-10pm. There will also be an exclusive Q&A with Alexandra Shulman and Harvey Nichols Fashion Director, Paula Reed, at 9pm and Vogue T-shirt customisations by 10 of Harvey Nichols most-loved designers. Here’s hoping I can get my paws on one.

Harvey Nics aren’t the only department store monster in Exchange Square, Selfridges are of course right opposite and will be competing to take their stance as the most fashion forward department store in Manchester. Not only is there tons going on inside the store, with DJ Jameela Jamil working the decks and temporary tattoo pop up bar, hair braiding, Mac makeovers and Illamasqua manicures, they’ll be out and about too. Look out for the Selfridges yellow van parked in Exchange Square, with a surprise celebrity guest selling the official Fashion’s Night Out T-Shirts and giving out a gift card loaded with a mystery amount from £5 – £50. Eeek, save one for me!

I’ve also blogged (and vlogged) for House of Fraser a couple of times before – see here – so was delighted to be invited to their store on their night – it sounds that they’ve got loads going on in both their fashion and beauty departments! As has become tradition at VOGUE FNO’s, House of Fraser will be exhibiting some of Vogue’s most iconic cover shoots through the decades and running their cover shoot Photobooth so y’all can have a go yourselves with the help of a Dior makeover (I know I will be!). As well as a selling exclusive T-Shirts to support Save The Children and having a Vogue Represenative in store, they’ll also be running a Fabulous Fashion Treasure Hunt which I’m hoping to take part in. There’s gonna be a huge prize up for grabs too, apparently!

With all that jazz happening under just three of the roofs in town, it’s gonna be a tough choice as to which department stores to visit first! What do you reckon, kittens?
