Afternoon Tea at Little Underbank Tearooms, Stockport

Hey kittens, hope you’re all having a lovely day. If not, I have just the suggestion to perk you up this afternoon – a little spot of afternoon tea! Unfortunately, I can’t treat each and every one of you to a scone and brew, but I can share with you one of my favourite hidden tea rooms; The Little Underbank Tearooms, in Stockport.

Recently, it was my Grandma’s 83rd birthday. Now, I know a lot of people are unsure what to buy their grandparents (there’s only so many different varieties of jumper you can buy), but my Grandma is even more difficult. Despite her age, she’s well up to date with the latest technology – she loves playing games on her XBOX and Nintendo DSI, keeping up to date with Facebook on her iPad and even reads this very blog! So, as she pretty much has more stuff than me, I wanted to get her something a little different and an afternoon tea experience would let her have her cake and eat it (literally!).

So, I took her to The Little Underbank Tearooms in Stockport for the most scrumptious lot of finger sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea – made with real tea leaves – for a while. I was hugely impressed (which is why I’m telling y’all about it, because trust me, I’m not in any way sponsored by them!) as not only did we get rectangle sandwiches each, we also had a handmade scone each (with clotted cream, jam and butter, of course) as well as mini angel cakes, almond slices, and we even got to choose a whole other piece of cake to eat ourselves – I chose a chocolate fudge cake, just to top off my light snack!

The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and the cakes were fresh and kept on coming! As well as the generous stand of finger sandwiches and scones, we were each given the chance to choose a whole seperate slice of cake to top it all off! Naturally, I chose the last piece of chocolate fudge cake, which I popped in a doggie bag and enjoyed at home the next day. Even I couldn’t eat that much cake!

For the tea date, I popped on something cute and quirky – quite like the interior decoration at Little Underbank Tearooms – including this vintage style shirt from OASAP, some plastic pearl jewellery from Primark and some highwaisted jeans; Primarni’s finest. A simple, everyday look I wear quite often and I think it was quite fitting of the environment. What do you think?

Honestly, I was so impressed with this little tearooms tucked away behind Stockport city centre and would love to go back. When I purchased this, Afternoon Tea was priced at £15per person and despite being a pretty standard afternoon tea price, I feel like it is a little pricey for a small tea shop. However, I’ve just checked on their Facebook page and looks like they’re now doing Afternoon Tea for 2 for £20, which I reckon is a pretty good deal. It might even be the perfect excuse to go back!
