Blogging Tips: Blogging on the Go

As part of my Blogging Tips series, I thought I would cover a question that I get asked a lot – how to blog when you’re on the go! For me, ‘on the go’ is as much everyday life as it is holidays or trips away. Although for most of the day I am working at a desk on a laptop or computer, I do tend to carry on my blogging work through the evenings and weekends. As part of that, I like to use my iPad and mobile phone where possible to try and make things a little more relaxed and enjoyable…

My first two technology essentials for ‘blogging on the go’ are a portable phone charger and back-up iphone cable. We all know that phone batteries can die quicker than a match burns, and for someone like me who needs to be constantly connected, I just can’t be without a portable charger. You just never know when you’re phone’s going to completely give in (and let’s face it, it’s usually at the least convenient time when you’re miles away from a plug socket). With this Olixar Charge & Sync Lightning Pack* I am able to charge my phone on the go – whether it’s filling it’s power up nicely in my handbag, or helping me out when I’m live tweeting an event. Paired with a spare USB phone cable (in extra long, for extra convenience) I am good to charge and go wherever I venture to!

Another technology accessory that helps to make life oh-so-much simplier is a keyboard-compatible tablet case. I have an iPad 3 and this Encase Universal Bluetooth Keyboard Case* is a brilliant way to upgrade it. For blogging on the go, my iPad is my go-to item; it’s thin and light enough to slip into my handbag and I can blog on long travel journeys, at a coffee shop and set up my own little blogging-desk almost anywhere. Adding a keyboard to it just makes things so much easier and quicker, almost converting it into a mini little netbook. I couldn’t live without this type of case, and at only around £25 it’s a small price to pay compared to forking out for a new laptop as well!
Finally, I’ve been experimenting with other bits of new technology to try and take my blogging/YouTube game to the next level. This Olixar Ultimate Lightning Tablet Car Pack* is the latest addition to my tech stash; it comes with a car headrest mount for your tablet, a cigarette-slot charger for your car and an extra long iPhone/iPad cable that connects everything together. I am so excited to get this up and running so I can watch/edit my YouTube videos on my iPad when I’m venturing from one place to another – a productive way to stomach long car journeys! I’ll tweet a picture when I get chance to put it to good use (just need time for a holiday to go on!).

Overall, blogging is very much a 24/7 jobby. It’s all about staying connected and up-to-date with your content. Followers need those instant replies and brands need their email offers accepted within a few hours to make sure the opportunity isn’t missed. Adding technology to my arsenal of blogging info gives me the ability to make things a little easier on that front.
