Dior Birds of Paradise Collection Launch

Morning kittens, as you might have noticed, I’m gradually trying to blog more about beauty and the way it can be influenced by fashion – for previous posts on the topic, have a little read of my Harvey Nichols Grazia Parlour beauty event, my Benefit Glamouriety tour review and my Crystal Clear “Lift Away the Years” event launch write ups.
Today’s post is a quick update from one of Britain’s great heritage brands, Selfridges, who this week launched Dior’s luxurious new collection ‘Birds of Paradise’. Drawing inspiration from their striking plumage, Dior has conceptualised this lavish make-up collection available in stores this summer. Pretty bright, huh?
For glamour puss’s (awkward word) all over the UK, this collection is a “sensual” – well, that’s what they call it – range of cosmetics designed to mimic the naturally beautiful hues of nature. I gotta admit, it it is a beautiful collection. From bold pigments of azure blue and iridescent peacock greens, to luscious gold shimmers and warmer tones of coral and pink, skin and nails are turned into a canvas for displaying a spectrum of exotic shades. Not one to usually splash into bright coloured makeup (bar my signature red lip, of course) I am pretty tempted by the colourful eyeshadows – although slightly worried I would end up looking like a washed up 1980’s pop star should things go terribly wrong!
As y’all know, I am into skincare in a big way – check out my Crystal Clear blog post, my review of Lilly Lolo’s mineral foundation and my thoughts on the Lanolips natural lip balm – so I was pleased to learn about the properties of this collection. Using naturally-derived ingredients that soothe and enrich the skin, Dior has also, for the first time, incorporated a ‘tan beautifier’ molecule in their new Diorskin Nude Tan BB Cream, which prolongs and enhances sun-kissed skin, whilst giving it a perfect healthy glow. If they did a shade pale enough, I’d be digging that too!
So kittens, will you be wearing blue inspired make-up this spring? Or stick to neutrals like me? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
