Easy Ways to Boost the Curb Appeal of your Home – Starting Today

Think about it, could your home do with a touch more curb appeal? At the end of the day, your home’s exterior is very similar to the cover of a book. It sets the stage for whatever is inside. It doesn’t matter whether you want to sell or whether you want to make some improvements for your own enjoyment because adding curb appeal is a fantastic way for you to make your home much nicer and you may even find that it boosts the value as well. If you’re not quite sure where to start then here are some projects which will make your home give off a much better first impression.

Go Green

One of the most obvious ways for you to improve your home’s curb appeal would be for you to try and add some fresh flowers or greenery. Don’t worry if you simply don’t have the time or the money to spend on a garden because you can get a very similar effect by simply adding some window boxes and planters too. Consider using plants to try and frame some of the key visual points around your home, which can include entryways or even windows too. If you don’t have room to have a standing planter then hook up a hanging one instead. One pretty arrangement can really boost your home’s appearance, far more than you realise.

Take Care of your Lawn

It’s very important that you take care of the lawn that you have. This is a huge part of maintaining your curb appeal overall. If you want to take care of your lawn then make sure that you mow the grass, rake any leaves, pull weeds and keep it watered too. This will prevent brown spots and you may also find that you end up making the whole space look way better overall.

Make your Door Stand Out

Did you know that you can significantly boost your home’s curb appeal by simply having your front door stand out? Painting your front door doesn’t cost very much and you may even find that it is a very easy DIY job for you to do. If you want to really make your door stand out then try and opt for a bold colour that enhances your colour scheme, rather than clashing with it. Don’t be afraid to hold up a swatch so you can see what the final colour is going to be, or even download a painting app. This will help you to see the potential that your front door has, and it will work wonders for your property overall.

Let in the Light

There’s really nothing welcoming about having a dark entryway. If you have a sconce or even a hanging pendant by your door then why not replace it with something a little more fun and fresh? You can clean off the cobwebs or the debris around your light fittings and this will make your home look way brighter and cleaner too. If you need a bit of additional light, then why not hang some string lights? You can also have some solar-powered lanterns if you want. This will illuminate your walkway while also making your space look way more homely.

Symmetry

Symmetrical patterns are ideal if you want to try and create focus points. They are easy to look at and they make your home look way more put-together as well. If you don’t feel as though you have the room in your entranceway, then you can easily do the same thing around the garage door. When you do, you will soon find that things come together much more efficiently. You can also look into car shade sails and then put something either side of that, as this will give your car some protection while also making it easier for you to bring everything together.

Redo your Mailbox

If you have a very old, dated mailbox and want to swap it out for something much more stylish then this is a very easy project for you to take on. It can also make a huge difference to your home’s curb appeal in general. Of course, depending on the type of mailbox you need, you may be tempted to go with one that attaches to the wall or even one that is standing. When you do, you can then add a sense of unique style to your home.

Clean out your Gutters

Clean your gutters on both the inside and the out. When you do this, you can then get rid of any debris and you can also stop it from getting clogged up in the future. It’s helpful to make sure that you scrub the outside until they look as good as new because you would be surprised at how much difference a little elbow grease can make.

Add some Door Décor

Wreaths are not just for Christmas. Believe it or not, you can find wreaths all year-round and they will add an exceptional amount of beauty to your home. If you want to get the best result, then try and find wreaths that are made out of preserved greens or even florals. You can make your life much easier by buying one that is made out of faux plants too. If you can, try and make sure that you avoid seasonal elements as these can make your wreath look dated and it can also make it look way out of place too.

Upgrade your Numbers

Did you know that you can quickly modernise your home by simply removing your house numbers? Try and replace them with anything that has a little more oomph.  Choose a font that matches in with the architecture of your home but also one that is distinctive as this will help you to grab the effect you’re looking for. If you are not very handy then replacing the numbers on your home is very easy to do and you can easily get the job done in half an hour or less.
