Illuminate Your Body with Shea Moisture

‘Bikini body’ season might be over (yes, I hate that phrase as much as you do), but just because we aren’t getting our bods out on the beach doesn’t mean it’s time to stop taking care of them! Recently, I’ve been trying out the Illuminating bodycare range from SheaMoisture – who are actually one of my favourite haircare providers for my curly hair! Not only do they create nourishing hair products suitable for my ringlets, but they are also a company based on ethics; they trade fairly, make sustainably-produced products and never test on animals. Although you will have seen SheaMoisture in my curly hair care routines before, this is the first time I have tried any of their body and skincare products… And it turns out they’re just right for Autumn and Winter!

I was kindly gifted the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Body Wash and matching Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Body Lotion to try. Both of these are £10.99 and available online and in stores from Boots (and are currently on a 3 for 2 promotion across selected bath products). Created with dull skin in mind – and let’s face it, who’s skin isn’t looking a little dull at this time of year? – SheaMoisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus body care products are designed to keep skin looking and feeling soft and radiant all day long, through delivering a healthy injection of moisture.

For me, body washes, in general, don’t tend to leave me with a lot to write home about. This isn’t specific to these products, of course, just body washes as a whole; I don’t find much difference between using high end and high street ones. Where I would rather put my money, however, is in moisturiser and this is where I do find there to be a difference. At £10.99 for a decent size of 384ml, the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Illuminating Body Lotion ticks all the boxes for me. With a subtle, soft fresh scent, this body lotion contains a nourishing blend of Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and Hibiscus Extract combined with Songyi Mushroom. These ingredients, especially the unusual inclusion of  Songyi Mushroom, aim to improve and brighten skin texture through adding moisture to the skin… A lovely way to illuminate your skin this autumn.
