You may not have heard of Rosina’s Lotions and Potions before, as indeed I hadn’t before their reached out. Founded in 2008 by Sophie Cooper (who’s mother worked at skincare clinics and grandma created natural remedies), Sophie’s aim was to create a luxury leading skincare brand based on both nature and science. Using herbal and botanical ingredients – predominantly Rose which is famous in natural skincare for it’s healing and calming properties – the brand contains a handful of products featuring vintage-inspired design.

As I hadn’t heard of the brand before, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect. Their website gave little away and despite seeing beautiful imagery on social media I didn’t have much to go at, but after a couple (or three!) emails I decided to give them a chance. And boy, am I delighted I did! Arriving in a stunning, heavy gift box, beautifully wrapped in branded wrapping paper, was the most twee, lovely skincare package I have ever received.

As well as a personal note, inside the parcel the items were wrapped with care and packaged beautifully. If you are looking for a gift for a girly-girl or skincare lover from a brand they won’t have tried before, this might just be it! Inside, I had selected three items (a cleanser, toner and serum – doh! Forget to pick a moisturiser to finish off the skincare staples) to try my own rose and botanical inspired skincare routine.

The first item in my new Rosina’s Lotions and Potions routine is their Glorious Rose Cleansing Milk (£19.00), which contains the main ingredient of Rose alongside Aloe Vera and Sunflower Oil, which all aim to calm and moisturise the skin. A cleansing milk is always a lot gentler than a foam or exfoliator, and is used by messaging into the ace and neck before washing off with a warm, damp face cloth. Although this can be used morning and night, I prefer a double cleanse at night with a micellar water and then a cleansing balm (to thoroughly get rid of my makeup and any dirt from working in the city) and so this is a good morning option for me when I just want one simple and gentle step.

After cleansing, it’s always recommended you follow with a toner to balance out the PH levels in your skin. Rosina’s Lotions and Potions Rose Velvet Skin Tonic is a reasonable £17, and comes in a beautiful glass bottle with a handy spray nozzle, perfect for simply spritzing this toner over your face after cleansing. I much prefer a spray on toner (rather than using a cotton bud to wipe over my face) as it is quicker, easier and eliminates waste (plus in the mornings I need a routine that is quick and easy). It’s main ingredient is obviously, well, rose which is a natural astringent which helps to tighten pores without dying out the complexion. I have been using this post-workout as a cool-down aid and find it helps my skin to feel fresh as I leave the gym.

Finally, the third step (and almost last!) in the routine is Rosina’s Lotions and Potions Fountain Of Youth Serum costs £45 and is recommended to be used morning and night, after cleansing and toning and before moisturiser. Personally, I like to use this in the morning under a moisturiser as it is relatively light, and I choose a thicker oil or treatment serum for when I’m sleeping. I find this applies really nicely under makeup and helps my skin to look brighter and more radiant in the morning. Containing Rose, Argan Oil and Aloe Vera it has a nice blend of natural products, combined with a dash of scientific ingredient TriPeptide5 to aid collagen production.

Overall, Rosina’s Lotions and Potions is sure to make the ideal gift for any skincare lover, girl’s girl or nature enthusiast who is looking to inject a little more femininity and charm into their skincare routine.
