Things To Avoid To Keep Your Teeth Healthy

Keeping your teeth healthy is important because they can impact other areas of the body if you’re not paying particular attention to the health of them. With that being said, there are things worth avoiding to keep your teeth healthy. Here are just four things to take note of when looking after your teeth.

Coffee

Coffee is one of the biggest contributors to yellow or stained teeth. Due to coffee containing tannins which build up on the tooth enamel, eventually causing them to become stained. It’s something that anyone can have, and unfortunately, plenty of people suffer from stained teeth and as a result, have to turn to teeth whitening which isn’t the best thing for your tooth’s enamel, especially when it comes to sensitivity. With that being said, if you can cut down or even cut out your coffee intake, then it’s definitely going to make a difference. It’s important to know that beyond whitening, it’s not going to help if your teeth have already become stained.

If you love coffee too much, then try to limit how many cups of coffee that you have on a daily basis. That way, you can hopefully reduce the damage it does overall.

Sugary Foods

Sugary foods will rot your teeth eventually and combining that with a poor oral care routine, it can end up causing a lot of pain and upset in your mouth. It’s important to try and limit how much sugar you have in your diet because it not only wears away the enamel on your teeth but it can also put pressure on your heart. For the sake of your general health, try to cut down on the sugary foods you have, whether it’s in the meals you eat or the snacks you have in your cupboards.

The Wrong Toothpaste

The wrong toothpaste is something that can easily be picked out, and so it’s good to test different kinds of toothpaste to find the one that fits your needs.  Some have more fluoride in them than others, whilst some are specialized to suit sensitive teeth and others help with whitening teeth. A good oral hygiene routine is important and regular check-ups with your dentist are essential too.

It’s also worth considering anything that might improve your teeth like SmilePath as clear aligners can be good for straightening crooked teeth for all ages.

Smoking

Smoking is a bad habit that can ruin your body and could also risk your life too. For your teeth, it can contribute to the staining of your teeth as well as having bad breath. It’s definitely important to take good care of your teeth, and so quitting a bad habit like smoking can really help. It’s never good to go cold turkey, so start off gradually reducing your intake and make sure you chew sugarless gum to help with staining and also your breath.

Keeping your teeth healthy is essential and something you’ll appreciate doing. Use these tips to keep your teeth nice and white.
