5 Tips for Surviving Autumn Winter

manchester-xmas-markets

We’re well and truly into October now, which means that Autumn and Winter and coming for us faster than a kid grabbing sweets at a trick or treat party on halloween. Whether we like it or not, the dark nights are rolling in and the days are getting that bit more chillier, which means it’s time to start thinking about how to transition our lifestyle from the (slightly warmer) climate of British summer time, to the harsh wind, rain and snow of Winter. In preparation, I’ve put together my Top 5 Tips for Surviving Autumn Winter 2015

  1. Embrace the festivities! Autumn and Winter are actually my two favourite seasons simply because there are so many different events happening over these months. Whether it’s halloween, Thanks Giving, Bonfire Night, Christmas or New Year’s Eve, there’s a whole host of opportunities to get dressed up, socialise and drink a mulled wine or two. Perfect.
  2. Stock up on sweet treats. Yeah, I’m all about grabbing the half price Halloween sweets as soon as November hits. Chances are you aren’t going to be in a bikini for a good few months, so take the chance to have a hot chocolate in the evening and make yourself all warm and snug inside. Don’t over do it, obv, but we all know we like to have a little more to eat over the Christmas period than in summer…
  3. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. This is a year-long skincare tip for me but it is especially important when it’s cold outside, and the wind and rain are likely to take their toll on your precious face. Prevent dry skin, chapped lips and dull eyes by prepping your skin morning and night with moisturiser.
  4. Take charge of the TV schedule – it’s my guilty pleasure in Winter! If there’s one good thing about darker nights is that the TV schedule improves and there’s enough X Factor and Strictly to keep you entertained most weekends. If the telly isn’t up your street, it’s the perfect opportunity to cuddle up and watch that film you’ve been meaning to watch for ages – n’aww!
  5. Wrap up warm: you’ll need to! Grab your boots and make sure you have a snuggly winter coat at the ready to help you get through the colder months. I also like to make sure I have at least a pair of gloves at the ready to accessories my mitts with, too. Where to get them from is up to you, but there’s tons of places that offer practical yet cute winer clothing, such as Regatta Outlet Store*.

So, it might seem like a dull time, but it’s the perfect opportunity to make a little more time for yourself and embrace all the festivities that are on offer throughout Autumn and Winter. I am personally already excited to wear my OTT Christmas knitwear – too soon? Yeah, I thought so!
