And Relax… How to Create the Ultimate Chill Out Spaces in Your Home

With so many people feeling the pressure of modern life, it’s good to have somewhere to escape to, where you can chill out and take some time just for you. Transforming parts of your home into a sanctuary away from the stress of everyday life is a perfect way to achieve a balance between work life and home life.

By maximising the opportunities for relaxation in your home, you can help to make it ideally suited to your downtime and claim back some of your free time.

Planning Your Chill Out Spaces

If you are put off of creating a home that is tailored for relaxation because you think that your home isn’t large enough, don’t worry, it’s all in the planning! Copious amounts of space are not something that many people have, but a relaxation space can still be created by taking some time over the plan and working with what you have.

Start by thinking about how you like to relax. Do you love to sit and read, do you like to watch films, or maybe you prefer to pamper yourself with face masks and hair treatments? Whatever it is that you love to do when you are relaxing, you can create a space to get the most from your chill out time.

Making it a Reality

Once you have decided on the kind of activity that you love to do in your chill out space, it’s time for the exciting part; to get started on creating it! Before you do anything drastic, it is a good idea to work out how much you would like to spend. Setting a budget will allow you to factor in getting everything you want and need to buy, without being left with a half finished job. Some items may not be essential, so they could wait until you have some spare cash further down the line. It is more important to get the basics you need to start with so that you can pull together the main elements of your new relaxation space.

Read on for some inspiration on how to create specific chill out spaces for movie buffs, book worms, and spa fans…

Home Cinema Space for Movie Buffs

A home cinema doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to add an extra room or two to your home. Creating a home cinema space is more about having the right equipment and using the space you have to maximum effect.

The most important part of the cinema room is the projector. Projectors are available at a range of different prices, so it is simply about choosing the right one to suit your needs and your wallet. Of course, you will also need something to mount your projector on; this is where Projector Lifts come in handy. Your projector lift suspends your projector from the ceiling and moves it up and down when you want to use it.

Once you have your main equipment you need to decide on your seating, for a truly authentic cinema vibe, why not add a popcorn maker too!

Book Nook for Book Worms

There’s nothing better than curling up with a good book and forgetting all about the world after a hectic day. Creating your very own reading hideaway is super-easy to do. Choose the corner of a room, or if you have an open area under your stairs or on your landing, you may want to utilise that.

For extra comfort, ensure that you position everything you need around you so that there’s no need to keep getting up when you are trying to chill. Essentials that you will need include a comfy seat, armchairs or day beds are ideal, or if you want to feel extra fabulous, how about a chaise lounge? Have a side table close by for resting drinks and snacks on, and of course, don’t forget your bookshelf, which should be easy to reach too.

Space for Spa Fans

If beauty treatments are your idea of bliss, then transforming your bathroom will provide you with all you need to relax. Arrange an area of your bathroom for storing your collection of pampering products, such as beautiful wicker baskets for face masks, hair treatments, body scrubs etc. Keep a fluffy dressing gown and towels ready and waiting for you on the heated towel rail so that they are lovely and warm when you use them. Don’t forget to add some beautifully scented candles to relax the senses as you chill out… bliss!
