I Love Manchester: Spring Trends 2013

Hey kittens!

As my second post as resident Fashionista for I Love Manchester, I’ve decided to welcome in March with a round-up of the key trends for Spring 2013. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I’ll be let off my leash to prowl the boutiques of Manchester and show y’all how I style outfits myself. But, for now, have a quick lil’ read to see what colours, shapes and prints you need to get your paws on for the purrfect spring-time look…

Pastels

Pastels

Pastels were huge last Springe and they’re huge again this year. Mint greens and pale lilacs are (quite literally) all over the shop. Try muted tones, lacy textures and geometric shapes to be part of the pastel trend this season. Personally, I love the way pastel tones can be matched together to create an all pastel outfit full of fairytale clours, but if this is a bit too much for you, choose one clothing item to represent the trend for you. Tie-dye t-shirts and dresses are a quirky twist on this trend if you want to add extra personality to your outfit.

Monochrome

Now, a trend for those of y’all who aren’t that big on mixing and matching colours; monochrome. Black, whites and greys are the perfect way to “do” Spring without getting in a colour fluster. Monochrome is the perfect transitional trend to take us all from Winter to Spring (especially in Manchester, where the whether is always on the rainy side of unpredictable), and of course can be dressed up and down to your hearts’ content! For some extra spice, mix it up with bold patterns without the bold colour, or add studs and spikes to increase your fierce rating.

Flourescent
Neon

My third and final trend to watch out for is neon! Flourescent items are not for the faint hearted but they’re set to be massive in Summer, so get ahead of the crowd and start wearing your lurid colours now! Although a neon dress paired with nude accessories is a celebrity-esque way to wear the trend, I would suggest that neon accessories are a more subtly chic way to inject bright colours into your wardrobe. Why not compliment your usual jeans and shirt with a flourescent pair of shoes for a fun nod towards these holiday colours?

So kittens, yay or nay? Are you loving monochrome this spring or are you preferring pastels right now?  Let me know in the comments below. And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
