Tommy Hilfiger Outfit of the Day

IMG_9580

Welcome back to Lily Kitten x Tommy Hilfiger Takeover Week. Earlier in the week I shared with y’all that I went shopping in one of the only Tommy Hilfiger concessions in the UK at my local House of Fraser, Manchester. Today, I’m gonna be sharing with you exactly what I bought in an all-Tommy-outfit of the day!

When picking out an outfit, I was automatically drawn to the Tommy Hilfiger heritage collection. Although there was a large range of more neutral items that could go with pretty much anything, y’all know I am so drawn to primary colours and bold patterns. The Tommy Hilfiger heritage collection was created in part to celebrate 3 decades of the brand by sharing their classic red, white and blue (read more in this on my Tommy Hilfiger 30th Anniversary blog post), but is also super on-trend. Kyle Jenner recently wore this dress, no less – if that doesn’t scream ‘trendy’ then I don’t know what does right now!

In Tuesday’s Tommy Hilfiger Wishlist, I took you through my top picks for Autumn Winter 2015 and two items I shared I actually picked up myself – the first being this incredible Tommy Hilfiger Mara Dress. This Americana style dress is taken from the 30th Anniversary heritage collection, it’s red, white and blue stripes in classic Tommy style. The shift shape gives you the option to go for an oversize look, or it also comes with a thing navy blue belt to cinch you in at the waist if you choose to (which I did). Costing £230, it might seem pricey, but this really is a statement piece and considering it 100% silk this is definitely a special treat. Aside from the belt, the Mara dress comes with it’s own under-dress, giving you the option to button the dress the whole way up or leave it a little looser if you wish.

The second item I shared in my Wishlist posts is this amazing Tommy Hilfiger Dosa Coat. This number is a wool jacket, somewhere between a coat and knitwear; a ‘coat-igan’ if you will! It’s navy blue colour means it’s going to be so easy to pair with tons of outfits throughout the colder months, and it’s smart-casual slouchy style means that it’s perfect for the oversized peacoat trend which is massive this AW15. Unlike the dress, this is less of a statement piece and more of an investment buy, which makes parting with £190 for it a little easier. In fact, I don’t think it’s a bad price at all for a designer item, especially considering you can easily spend 100 quid on a high street coat which will only last you one winter. Again, there’s just little details about this coat which I LOVE – check out the red stripe under the collar; a little secret ode to Mr Hilfiger himself!

My final Tommy Hilfiger item is another investment piece, a handbag. If you’ve been reading here for a while, you’ll know that I would rather save up for items I know will last me a long time and often I count coats and handbags as part of that. Although some accessories I will be more thrifty about when I know they are likely to be a fad (hello, wide brim hats!), I know I will ALWAYS need a handbag. This Tommy Hilfiger Honey multi-coloured tote bag is no exception. At £145 I think it’s a reasonable price for a long-lasting bag – especially compared to designer bags of a similar shape, which in my experience do not last as long at all (I think you guys know which brand I’m talking about *cough*). Although this bag comes in some more durable colours such as navy blue, I was drawn to the block colours of this one and it goes surprisingly well with a lot of different looks so far.

To keep the rest of the outfit simple, I opted for black accessories to make sure I didn’t detract from the statement stripes or primary colours. Although I think this outfit is quite striking, it was actually really quick to pop together. I mentioned in my Tommy Hilfiger AW15 blog post that the brand groups items together in House of Fraser to make styling outfits easy, and I have to confess that all these items did come from the same group which made pairing up a complete outfit dead easy (shh, don’t tell anyone or I might loose some credit as a fashion blogger)! Anyway, now we’ve shared that little styling secret I’m going to sit back and let the rest of my pictures do the talking…

So kittens, what do you think of the look? Are you a fan of the Tommy Hilfiger heritage collection? Don’t forget that if any of these items tickle your fancy, feel free to mention my name next time you’re in Tommy Hilfiger at House of Fraser Manchester to get an exclusive 15% discount ’til 23rd November. The perfect excuse for a Christmas wish list shop if I ever heard one, right?

Now, to finish off the blog post with a blogger-outfit-shoot-outtake… Yep, I got photobombed by a dog!
