6 Things To Love About Winter

Where has 2020 gone? It has somehow managed to be both the shortest and longest year ever. At least that’s what it feels like. The clocks change next month and with them brings the beginning of winter. While it’s easy to be on a downer over the cold weather and lack of sunshine, there are also things to look forward to as well. So instead of dreading winter, here are five things can bring a little joy to your life.

Cosy Wardrobe Choices

Bring out the beautiful knitwear, winter has arrived. Gone are the flesh baring days. You don’t have to shave your legs if you don’t want to, no one’s going to see them for a while. Swap the flats for a pair of calf knee boots and you’re good to go. Winter is all about stylish comfort. And yes, you can pull those both off with a little preparation.

Early nights

The cold weather and the dark nights give you the perfect opportunity to relax with a good book or Netflix binge. Enjoy the slower pace for a while (it will be spring again before you know it). Take the time to recharge and connect with those things you want to do.

Candles

Candles create a wonderful atmosphere in your home on a dark night. They’ve probably stayed decorative over the summer due to the light evenings. Now you can really set the ambience by lighting a few scented candles throughout hte house.

Warming Food

Now, you don’t really need an excuse to eat great food. Winter weather makes us crave food that warms us. Find some healthy winter recipes to experiment with at home. Cook for friends and family and make an occasion of it (lockdown permitting).

Or, if you don’t feel like cooking, head out to your favourite restaurants and try out their winter menu dishes.

Long Luxurious Baths

Of course, you can have a bath at any time, but the combination of the dark evening and cold temperatures make them even more special. Not only will the warm your bones after a long day, you can turn your bathroom into an oasis with some scented candles, bath oil and some music playing. They simply lie back and relax or read a book. The choice is yours.

Snow

No matter how old we are, snow has a kind of magical feeling. Unless its causing us travel chaos, then the world really does feel like a different place when there’s a blanket of snow on the ground. Take the time to enjoy it. Despite the reputation for the weather in the UK, we don’t get it that often. Take a walk, build a snowman, go sledging, or even have a snowball fight with your friends. You inner child will thank you for it.

There you have it, just six of the many reasons to love winter. Rather than focus on the negatives, try and make the best of it and take the opportunity to indulge it while you can.
