Christmas Home Decorations 2018

This is my second Christmas in my own home, and whilst last year I had all my Christmas decorations up, this year is the first year it truly feels festive. I am way more settled, trying to spend a lot more time there (when work allows!) and so in a lot of ways this year it feels like the first Christmas in my own home.

As you guys know from previous sneak peeks into my home style, my lounge is predominantly gold and black in colour themed and a kinda of mix between art-deco retro glamour and a modern twist with flashes of green palm print, so for my Christmas decorations I decided to go with a gold theme to compliment it.

My Christmas tree, as with last year, is gold tinsel. It must be around 6ft 2′ and is lovely and full. None of this tatty tinsel stuff. It was expensive and it looks it. I half wish I had waited until the January sales last year to purchase one, as this year in the after-Christmas sales they were so heavily reduced, but I am also pleased I stuck to my guns and chose a Christmas tree that is to my personal style. I just can’t image myself having a green, normal tree, right?

In terms of baubles, they are a mix between black and gold round traditional baubles with a mix of polka-dots, stripes and art-deco style chevrons, mixed with some subtle (or not so subtle!) nods to my personality. This year’s new additions include delicate prosecco and cocktail glass baubles, and glittery prosecco bottles, which obviously speak to me.

Some other nods to my favourite things on my Christmas tree are my signed Manchester Storm bauble, which coincidentally is also gold tinsel and represents ice hockey, one of my greatest loves in life. Another is this beautifully mirrored ‘Sonny’ paw print bauble my sister, his Auntie Poppy, bought for him – a nod to the other great love of my life.

Around my living room I also have all my Christmas and Birthday cards displayed. As I was a December baby these always tend to go up at the same time and, as you may be able to notice, they have a little bit of a theme going on: think pugs, prosecco and Princesses (which is what my friends lovingly refer to me as!).

Other hints of Christmas in my home include fairy lights on timers, outdoor and indoor wreaths, and gold vintage style tinsel decorations up the stairs which I am particularly proud of this year.

Oh, and of course I have a crown on the top of my Christmas tree – I’m a queen, duh!
