Summer Holiday Series: What’s In My Travel Bag?

Hey kittens, as y’all might now be now, I’m currently in Rome! It’s been a long time coming and of course, what’s the most important item to remember when jetting off? Your travel bag!

Travel Bag & Pouch: Nica – Sunglass: Maui Jim – Passport Cover: Accessorize – Sunhat: Dorothy Perkins – Sandals: Clarks

As part of my Holiday series blog posts, I thought I would make the most of my Italian getaway to do the much requested “What’s In My Travel Bag?” tag. When packing a travel bag, it’s often a make or break activity. I’d like to think that as I’ve been lucky enough to travel quite a lot in my life (a different country for every year of my life!) I’ve become an efficient and light packer. Well, I’ve not. It’s often a scramble of shoving everything I think I’ll ever need into one handbag and lugging a cramped and heavy holdall onto a plane. However, I’m gonna ask y’all to humour me and pretend this condensed version is a realistic representation…

Firstly, the most important item in the What’s In My Travel Bag? tag has got to be the the bag itself! For my holidays this year, I chose this floral weekender handbag from Nica. It’s a really lovely touch to have a handbag specially created for travel – not only does it have a beautiful botanical print, but it’s super practical and lightweight in coated canvas for added durability. The material not only makes it pretty, but pretty handy for taking on a pane! Plus, I love the tan coloured detail and gold hardware; I find black to be too dull for summer and the warmth of brown shades always make it to my holiday accessory shortlist!

I also love that the handbag comes complete with easy pouch in matching tulip print, handy for those in-flight essentials we all run the risk of losing (well, I do!). It’s just the right size for popping in your passport, boarding pass and business cards of taxi companies and such like – that way, at least if things get lost they will all turn up in the same place together! And of course, it goes without saying that in my travel bag you will (or should hopefully) find my perfectly pink accessorised passport, my boarding pass and my travel arrangements for at the other end of the plane journey.

Travel bag: House of Fraser – Lip Balm: Burt’s Bees – Skincare: Elemis – Shampoo & Conditioner: Moroccan Oil – Suncream: Nivea – Moisturisers: Keihl’s

For beauty products, I try and keep most of my items in my suitcase. I told ya, I’m not a light packer and so I usually end up taking a suitcase to go in the hold of the plane as well as a carry on handbag. Therefore, my carry on handbag gets the bare minimum essentials to get me through a journey, with just a couple of emergency essentials in the obligatory clear bag, should my case get lost on the way. Of course, my number 1 holiday essential is suncream – y’all know I’m pale and need a little more sun protection than most!

For in-flight essentials, I will always take a lip balm and moisturiser – we all know how drying the air-con on a plane can be. After receiving it at the Look Fantastic Mid Summer Meet a few weeks ago, this Burt’s Bees lip balm has come on my travels with me this year in the hope that the honey and cocoa butter will leave my lips looking as sweet as they taste! I also have a sample size of Keihl’s legendary Creme De Corps for moisturising my hands after washing them often on my travels (ew, germs) and a mini version of their Ultra Facial Cream to top up my hydration whilst flying – it’s specially created to reduce moisture loss, dontcha know?

My last beauty items are mini size hygiene essentials in case I end up with a lost suitcase, stranded without my favourite beauty bits. Although I do make an effort to pack lightly when I travel, I won’t compromise on skincare. Heck, if people have to stare at my face all day I want it to look nice! For Rome, I’ve been using the Elemis FreshSkin range  as it’s specially created for skincare for gals in their 20’s. Formulated with naturally active ingredients which have been specially chosen for their ability to help cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise and target the problems of a young skin, it seemed like the ideal choice for travelling away from home. Finally, I included my Moroccan Oil travel size shampoo and conditioner to get me through a couple of days away from home. Y’all know how curly my hair is so it’s only fair that it gets a little extra care whilst I’m away, especially as it’s so hot here!

To conclude this tag, as a true fashion blogger, I couldn’t travel away from home without a few accessories! As y’all can see from my main picture, I’ve brought along my super comfortable Clarks sandals to help me out with all the walking I’m doing here and this huge Dorothy Perkins sun hat I bought to protect my little curly noggin from the sun. Finally, I’ve been wearing my Maui Jim Liana sunglasses non-stop! The tortoise shell colour matches my tan theme for my holidays and goes really well with my Nica bag. These frames are inspired by Andy Warhol, John Lennon, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly and are designed to soften rectangular or square faces while adding a pop of memorable style – well, I reckon they do!
