Create a Calming Bedroom

When you’re an adult, it can sometimes be difficult to find anywhere where you can just relax, let it all hang out and find some peace and quiet. For many of us, our bedrooms are the one place that we can guarantee to be a calm haven of rest and relaxation, and for many of us, even that is not possible due to the fact that our bedroom is not exactly a relaxing environment!

If you’d like your bedroom to be your own little oasis of calm, but right now it’s anything but, here are a few simple things you can do to change that!

Hide the clutter away

When your bedroom is messy, you cannot relax because you are too busy looking at all the piles of clothes and clutter and it puts you on edge. So, if you have a lot of stuff taking up space, first of all, see what you can do to get rid of it. Then, take a look at these key ways to organise your bedroom to store them away neatly and get some semblance of order back into the space.

Choose colours carefully

A lot of people do not realise that colours can have a very real effect on our state of mind. However, it is fair to say that some colours are energising while others are soothing. If you want to create a calming bedroom, then, you need to focus on bringing gin calming colours like sky blue, forest green, grey and white into the space and eliminating more energising colours like yellow, orange and bright pink, which can make you remind more active!

Awaken your sense of smell

It is also true to say that certain aromas can energise us while others can help us to calm down, For example, lemon is a very energising aroma, while lavender has been shown to soothe the mind and body. So, if you want to create a calming space in your home, filling it with lavender and chamomile scented candles or essential oils is a really effective way of doing that.

Get a plant

House plants have been shown not only to purify the air but also to have a calming effect on the mind, lowering stress levels and even blood pressure in some cases! So, it is always a good idea to have a pretty plant or two at your bedside if you want to create a truly relaxing space.

Create a comfy bed

Of course, your bed is the main attraction in your bedroom, so you will want to make an effort on that front. If you want it to be as calming as possible, invest in the best mattress you can afford, along with comfy pillows that support your neck and soft Egyptian cotton sheets that will let your skin breathe. Spritz some lavender on your pillow and you’re good to go.

You deserve to have a calming bedroom space, and the above ideas can certainly help you with that, so make the changes and create that haven of tranquillity you so deserve.
