French Connection: From Sketch To Store

Hey kittens! Hope y’all are having a good week so far and it’s not too boring for ya! However, if there is one thing I love to do when I’m growing a little yawnsome, is to discover a new brand. Now, French Connection isn’t a new brand at all, but it IS new to me, which is why I was delighted to be invited to be part of their From Sketch To Store campaign…

The #sketchtostore event took place one Thursday evening at the Manchester store at the corner of St Ann’s Square – one I’ve passed many times but never ventured into. Why? I don’t know really. Well, I kinda do – at school, it was all the “popular” girls that wore French Connection dresses. You know the type. Bodycon, bandage style, glitter numbers riding way above a decent length. Plus, expensive. Not all my favourite things, but when I was invited down, I thought I’d give the store a second chance.

Once in the store, we were greeted with some Pepsi and coconut cocktails and crisps, and invited to style as many items as we wanted. Cheap and cheerful! Not what I expected of the store – so were their clothes cheap too? Definitely not! I wasn’t surprised to see that most items were way out of my budget for your average wardrobe staples. £150ish for a party dress that you would probably only wear once. Hmm, not my cup of tea.

However, once I started styling the items I quickly got excited about what FCUK had to offer (although I’m not keen on that brand name either, but that’s another story!) We were invited to style and model our very own photo shoot using the most current products of the #sketchtostore collection, in an effort to be crowned the ‘Most Stylish’ and winning some great French Connection prizes. Although I struggled at first to pick out some items that would suit me (and my hips would fit into) I fell in love with a dress. Yes, a £150 dress. Sigh.

However, this £150 dress was a lot different to my stereotypical view of the FCUK dress – an orange, floaty, pleaty, maxi number that covered both chest and legs. Bonus. Plus it was in Autumn’s hottest colour, flame orange. Although I could easily see this carrying me through ’til next Summer with bare legs and a floral crown, I went very AW13 and paired it with a chunky belt, bowler handbag, statement necklace and tights and ankle boots. The whole look added up to well into the £400 mark – eek! If only I could have brought it home with me too!

So kittens, what do you think of French Connection? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
