Manchester Talent: Emporer Fashion

Hey kittens! Today I’ve got the latest edition of my Manchester Talent series, where I celebrate the most innovate local fashion designers in my area. As y’all know, I’m a keen supporter of the Manchester fashion industry and local brands. (Plus, do I need an excuse to pop some pictures of a gorgeous, half-naked man on my blog? Nope? No one’s complaining!)

For previous stories, check out my articles on Vogue Fashion Night Out, Manchester Fashion Week and Manchester’s fashion history to name a few! Most recently I wrote about Manchester graduate, Amy Davidson, winning the Mulberry Accessories Award at Graduate Fashion Week (go girl!) so today’s article is one for the men…

Today I’m introducing new local menswear brand, Emporer. The brand is one based on luxury, hence the name; it speaks of a brand that is of royal status. Emporer’s exclusivity and high value reputation allow them to compete with the more established high retail brands as Armani and Hugo Boss, although it might not yet be as well known. The word itself speaks to the male ego as a symbol of being the most highest of ranking perceived to mankind, there is no greater rank than Emporer – a little arrogant, I know, but what emporer isn’t?

Emporer designs, manufactures, distributes and retails fashion and will be looking to expand into lifestyle products including Haute Couture, ready to wear, accessories, fine jewellery, watches, eyewear, fragrances. Their current products are Men’s designer boxers, designed by Laura “lulu” King and come in two main designs – black and white, with gold detailing. Unfortunately, I can’t really model these items myself(!) but hopefully they’ll bring out a little something for me in the future…

Manager of the brand, Waqas Ali, told me, “there are many kings but only one Emporer”. An Emporer is the epitome of style, grace and elegance and Ali says, “there is no better feeling than feeling number one.”

As every fashion idea usually is, this too was started as a fantasy of the founder Waqas Ali from his secondary school days. Having a father in the Knitwear manufacturing industry for over 30 years, it was always an idea of his to start making the products produced in his fathers factory with his own designs incorporated.  After graduating with a BA(Hons) Business Management degree at Manchester Metropolitan University, Ali took the leap and launched The Empire Fashion House Company Limited, with the intention of starting a men’s line and a female line. However, with limited capital, and lots of attempts at launching various products, Ali finally found his footing with what my father started his manufacturing business; Underwear.

So kittens, what do you think of this new Manchester brand? Yay or nay? You can also find more insight about our brand by looking at our social media sites. Leave me a comment below and let me know!
