How to Simplify Your Skincare Routine this Summer

Summer isn’t exactly the time of year to be layering millions of products on your skin. You’ll be sweating more as it is so you don’t want to end up with clogged pores or smudges and smears. The best thing to do in summer is to keep it simple. The only thing not to skimp on is suncream. There are a few tricks you can try to lighten your makeup load, however, and still enhance your best features. By switching out a couple of items and simplifying your skincare routine this year, you’ll also be doing your bit for the environment. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Choose one product and stick to it

In order to simplify your skincare routine, you need to minimise the amount of products you buy for a start. Be mindful of what you buy and always think twice as to whether you really need certain items. Once you’ve found one moisturiser, foundation, or mascara you really love you can stick to it. If you’ve always wanted to get a tattoo you could design your own this summer. You can do pretty much anything with tattoo ink. You could also opt for more permanent treatments such as getting your eyebrows or eyelashes tinted for the summer. There are also at-home DIY kits you can try that are much cheaper than booking a salon.

Get plenty of rest

It’s necessary to practise self-care as part of a natural skincare routine. This means getting enough rest and maintaining a healthy sleep routine. You’ll feel better inside and out and it will help to boost your self-esteem. If you have difficulty sleeping in the summer heat you could try some relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises. Alternatively, you could invest in acupressure or self-massage tools to help you achieve a sense of deep relaxation.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential when it’s hot as you’ll be losing water and valuable minerals as you sweat. Hydration is also very important for your skin and can even help to heal sunburn. Keep a refillable bottle of water with you at all times. You could also try sports drinks especially if you’re doing exercise outdoors. This way you’ll keep your energy levels up, your skin happy, and you’ll be glowing inside and out this su
