Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Virgin Review

Hey kittens, today’s blog post is certainly getting in the festive spirit, as I present to you what I would be bold enough to call the ideal festive red lip. Yep, it’s a bold statement, but Illamasqua’s red lipstick from their Glamore collection in the shade Virgin is a contender for the perfect Christmas party shade. And glamorous it is!

With a satin finish, Illamasqua’s Glamore Lipstick in Virgin* is a highly pigmented colour, which Illamasqua describe as ‘intense’ – the above swatch is from just a light stroke across my hand, so I would be inclined to agree. This shade is advertised as a ‘classic red’ which I definitely would agree to. With subtle blue undertones, it is a stunning shade of classic hollywood, pillar box red. The shade has a satin finish, which leaves a pretty sheen to your lips without looking glossy (ew) or drying them out with a matte finish.

Costing £18.50, the lipstick is more expensive than Mac lipsticks (at my last purchase these were around £14), double the price of Rimmel’s Kate Moss collection (another firm favourite of mine) and a heck of a lot more than my £1 Makeup Revolution Vamp Shade lipsticks. It might seem pricey for a lip colour, but the proof is in the (Christmas) pudding and this is a beautiful festive red, with a formula long enough to last through your Christmas dinner. I, for one, will be wearing this colour throughout the Christmas party season.
