Natural Summer Complexion with Erborian Korean Skin Therapy

If you’ve not heard of Erborian Korean Skin Therapy, than you wouldn’t be alone – as before trying these items I hadn’t either! Erborian, “Herbs of the Orient”, was born from the meeting of two women with a passion for beauty and all products are made with high quality Korean herbs and the latest skincare technology. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this brand as it seemed so different to makeup brands I had tried before, with a concentration on a natural complexion, but read on to find out more. Oh, and spoiler alert: I’m converted!

These three items – the Erborian BB Eye Cream and Concealer, Erborian CC Cream Clair and the Erborian 0.09 Ginseng Compact Powder Clair –  are my most used from the Erborian range. So much so, in fact, that they occupy a permanent residence in my every day makeup bag. Sure they don’t provide full coverage suitable for nights out, but for everyday work suitable makeup I don’t want that anyway. These three items are the perfect combination for achieving light, subtle and natural looking coverage for the perfect “no makeup” makeup look.

A hybrid between skincare and makeup, the Erborian BB Eye Cream and Concealer is an eye cream come concealer costing £34. I use this everyday as the last step in my skincare routine and the first in my makeup routine, as not only does it moisturise the delicate eye area but it also provides excellent coverage that could rival your favourite concealer. It also contains SPF 20 which is an amazing ingredient for eye cream and will help to protect from sun damage.

Another everyday makeup product, the Erborian CC Cream Clair (£38) is my go-to everyday face base. Enriched with SPF 25, this “High Definition” illuminator, with its fine texture, contains pigments to enhance your skin. Upon application, it adapts to your skin tone, naturally revealing a more even, beautiful complexion.  Unless I have a special event at work, I would much rather try and do good by my skin and let it breathe as much as possible, but this also contains a pale universal tint that comes out white but when massaged into the skin gives a natural looking veil.

This compact is perfect for touching up makeup throughout the day. Usually £22, it’s now on sale for £13.20! Slightly heavier than the CC cream, I like to pop a bit on my T-zone if I’m looking shiny halfway through the day or going out for drinks straight from work to refresh my face a little. The compact with built in mirror and sponge makes it super easy for top ups during the day.

These two items aren’t my everyday essentials but are still excellent in their own ways. I personally use them both as primers before doing my makeup but I guess if you like a super natural look with a minimum coverage then you could use them on their own!

The Erborian Pink Perfect Cream is available in 45ml or 15ml (here in 15ml), and is a Korean skincare beauty secret! Known as a “wonder” cream, this product is meant to help with four main skincare concerns. 1. Provide an instant “blur” by giving a soft-focus looking effect to the skin.
2. Visibly minimise the appearance of pores. 3. Help enhance the appearance of your skin tone with a pearly glow. 4.Prepare your skin for make-up, acting as a primer. It’s definitely different to any product I have used before and although I wouldn’t personally use it on its own, works well as a primer under low – medium coverage foundation.

The Erborian Glow Cream (also here in 15ml) also makes the perfect primer and it’s almost pearlescent sheen is my favourite finish for a primer to achieve dewy looking skin. It uses Korean technology to diffuse a hologram like effect through the cream and in turn helps to give an ultra-radiant and glowing complexion.

Two more Erborian items I like to use together are the Ginseng BB Cream in Clair and the Erborian Matte Cream. At the moment I am using these as my weekend makeup must haves!

The Erborian Matte Cream is reserved for evening makeup looks when I’d like to use a full coverage foundation and indeed delivers a soft matte finish. It is said to have a 5-in-1 hybrid effect to: 1. Blur the appearance of imperfections and pores. 2. Even out skin tone. 3. Refine skin’s texture. 4. Hold in moisture, and 5. Mattify to prepare skin for makeup.

The Ginseng BB Cream in Clair however is ideal for holidays or lunch dates and although it isn’t my everyday choice I totally love it as much as the silver edition. It provides a slightly different type of coverage as comes out of the tube already tinted and bathes the skin in a beautiful level of natural coverage. This product also comes in options of 45ml for using at home and 15ml for travel, which I find quite handy, although is currently only available in four shades. In the future I would love to see the shade range expand as the brand does!

Finally, the Erborian Touch Pen in Clair concealer provides more coverage than the under eye one; making it ideal for coverage blemishes or discolouration. I usually save this for when I’m doing a full face of makeup; or for when i get a particularly nasty spot!
