Outfit of the Day: Pink and Preppy

Hey kittens – it’s the weekend and it’s time for another Outfit of the Day video and blog post. Today’s outfit is kinda different for me – I’m wearing a skirt!

I feel like I wear a lot of dresses but I barely ever wear skirts, I’m not sure why as when I was younger I always chose a shirt over jeans, but recently I’ve been wearing skinny jeans/leggings/disco pants as my go-to items – I think it’s just so easy to throw on a shirt with some leggings and be done with it! However, this beaut of a pleather (that’s plastic leather, for y’all who aren’t down with the slang) skirt from Prodigy Red has really reminded me how easy – and fun – it is to pair a cute skater skirt with my favourite shirts.

This skirt is now fast becoming a favourite for me – the skater shape is so flattering as it cinches ya in at the waist but them skims over any lumps and bumps (c’mon, we all have ’em!) plus, being black, it literally goes with anything. I’m not sure if you can tell in the video, but it also comes with a studded belt which y’all know I love! I think it’s a really easy way to add a little something extra to an outfit.

I paired the skirt with this block colour shirt from Mary Jane Fashion, which I’ve actually already worn in an event blog post, when I attended the celebrity store opening of Risk Couture (if you missed it, be sure to check it out here). I’m not usually one to wear pinks as I’m always self conscious of them clashing with my ever-ghostly pale skin, but I thought I could get away with this one as it has a cute blue collar and the pinks are in different clashing shades. I added the gold and pink collar tips as a little personal touch to jazz it up a bit more and link in with the gold studs on the belt.

As a final touch, I added my beautiful pink Milkman satchel by Brit Stitch (check out my collection blog post here) and these thick embroidered pink socks to play up to the preppy theme – I think they look kinda school girl-esque, but in a grown up way. But, to stop things getting too kitsch and cutesy, I donned these studded black loafers from Primark to toughen up the look a little – I couldn’t be too cute, could I?

So kittens, what’s a colour you don’t usually dare to wear? Are you a fan of pink or do you leave it well alone? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
