Outfit of the Day: 1920's Flapper Girl

Hey kittens, it’s the end of the bank holiday and I’ve got the Tuesday Bluges – boo! So, what better way to perk myself up than to ply a little bit of dress up? I’m not sure there’s anything that can make a gal feel more special than sprucing herself up, slipping on a sequin dress and kicking on some heels. Hands up in y’all agree.

This is another post in my Vintage Outfit of the Day series – for more, check out the rest of my posts here. As y’all who have been following my blog for a while know, I’m a huge lover of everything retro and this little blogosphire lets me express my vintage creativity to my hearts content. Deep down, I’m a huge history geek (I got an A* at GCSE dontcha know?) so combining past eras with my first love of fashion is always a winning combination.

Today’s look is another 1920’s inspired image. I’ve previously styled a floor length gown in a Great Gatsby-esque manner, but today’s heralds back to the iconic Flapper Girls on the 1920’s. Desire Clothing’s beautifully detailed sequin dress* was an ideal choice for this look – the sequins, the shape and the colours depict perfectly everything 20’s. It’s also a pleasure to wear, it’s weight tells of it’s high quality and it’s intricate embellishments are the things my dreams are made of!

Accessories are always a tricky choice when it comes to recreating vintage looks – they can make or break a look in a second. Jewellery can easily give away an uncharacteristically modern look, so instead of over-doing it, I safely avoided any statement pieces and instead went for a very appropriate floral headband from my local market. For shoes, chunky heels, platforms and 6inch heels just aren’t era-appropriate for a 1920’s inspired look, which pretty much factors out 90% of my shoe collection. However, luckily enough these strappy sandals* – also from Desire Clothing – were ideal; the ankle strap lives up to the delicate look of the 1920’s and the small stiletto heel adds just enough height to the look.

So kitty cats, what do you reckon of my 1920’s look? Did you like my Flapper Girl poses? Leave me a comment below and don’t forget to let me know! And don follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
