Outfit of the Day: Floral and Lace

Dress: Madam Rage – Boots: Cloggs – Headband: Thrifted – Socks:Thrifted –
Necklace: Jon Richard – Bracelet: Jon Richard

Hey kittens!

Welcome to this week’s Outfit of the Day video – a little optimistic but as today is “officially’ the first day of Spring, I thought nothing better than to celebrate (and hopefully cox in some warmer weather) with a purrrfect spring ensemble!

Although it might not be quite warm enough yet to wear this outfit without a coat – I personally paired it with a faux fur coat, to keep the look classic yet vintage-esque – I love the way it looks in the March sun. Sounds a little cheesy, but it reminds me of a fairytale scene!

This beautiful lace dress from Madam Rage is the purrfect transitional item to take your wardrobe from winter to spring; although a subtle (yet sunny) cream shade, it’s sheer three-quarter length sleeves still keep you looking quite modest and pretty covered. Personally, I love the shape, too – on trend enough to be in the skater dress style yet flattering enough to have the complimentary brown rope belt to pull you in at the waist. I felt like a proper glamour puss wearing this!

I paired the flirty, romantic dress with my favourite mock Jeffrey Campbell lita-style boots from Cloggs.co.uk Every Day Collection – they really help to add a little edge to the otherwise soft feel of the outfit and add a little toughness to the look. Grrr!

However, I didn’t want the contrasting textures of the dress and the boots to be too harsh, so the perfect way to blend the two styles was to pair the boots with these grey and cream ankle socks. I am a huge fan of frilly socks! Since my Momma dressed me in them as a baby kitten with my first pair of shoes, I’ve loved the way they can instantly transform an outfit… And I really think they do here.

The finishing touches to this outfit are the accessories. In the same way that these thrifted socks add a special little detail to the look, so does the floral headband. This market stall item adds a little extra to the fairytale look and, I think, looks a bit 1970’s too.

To tie the rope belt (tie in… rope… geddit?!) and tan shoes together, I wore this chunky brown J by Jasper Conran necklace and ring collection from Jon Richard. Of course, to go with the theme of the look, with every tough element to the outfit there must be some softness, so I chose this Butterfly bracelet, also from Jon Richard, to add a little cute detail to finish!

So kitty cats, what springtime trends are you rocking this week? Let me know in the comments below! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
