Outfit of the Day & Giveaway: A Day at the Races

Dress: Jones and Jones – Handbag: Just B Belle – Sunglasses: Prada via Pretavoir –
Shoes: Tesco – Hat: Vintage – Socks: Ebay – Necklace: Vintage

Good evening, kittens! It’s the bank holiday weekend and I am so thrilled that it’s actually been super sunny in Manchester (for once) today. So, taking full advantage of this fleeting good weather, I decided to don a beautiful summer dress and style myself up for “a day at the races” – how very bank holiday chic?!

Ladies Day at the races is always a very formal yet stylish affair, so what better way to encoprate both elements than to go all black and white? The monochrome trend has been huge this year and although I am usually a fan of bold colours, I love how chic this trend is. There really is something about everything all black and white that shows understated style and elegance, which is why this beautiful Marie dress from Jones and Jones was the perfect choice. Not only is the large floral print a huge statement pattern to make up for lack of colour, but the details are just gorgeous; note the thick underskirt that makes the dress stick out in all the right places and the double cut out bows over the torso. Just gorgeous!

As ya’ll know, no Races Day outfit is complete without a statement hat, which is why I chose this white straw sunhat as the perfect addition to the outfit. This little (well, large) number was lovingly lent to me from my Momma Cat. Although she’ll hate me for saying this, I suspect this straw hat has long been classed as “vintage” and adds a little bit of retro style to the look. My Prada Baroque sunglasses from Pretavoir baroque sunglasses were also perfect for this look – the epitome of chic. They are my new fav accessory ever and the damask frame shape adds the perfect embellishment to any monochrome look. Other details include my favourite frilly ankle socks to add to the fairytale, doll-like feel of the dress and my Louboutin dupes from… Wait for it… Tesco! I know, I know, I can’t get over these patent peep toe heels either, as they are almost exact dupes of the Christian Louboutin Altadama’s which reatail at £550. I love the edge the red sole gives to the monochrome outfit, which I paired with my signature bold red lips and red nails. Girls gotta have a bit of colour in her look!

Kittens, I couldn’t tell you how fabulous I felt in this outfit. Not only is my Jones and Jones Marie the dress of my dreams – quite literally the most finely made dress I have ever owned – it also flattered my body shape so well. For something a little more revealing than I would usually wear, I felt totally comfortable whilst also feeling in deep luxury! The finishing touch came in the form of my Just B Belle by Julien Belle handbag. If you haven’t heard of him yet, Julien Belle is an up and coming British designer who is bringing a Chic but Unique design take on the classic handbag. Like my Jones and Jones dress, it is the little details that give away how much thought has gone behind the garment; it’s got full gun metal spiked feet, gun metal lanyard clasps, double sided zips, an embossed carrier handle and a detachable leather shoulder strap which is even long enough for me! Gah, I really love how simple the design is – how can it be that a circular handbag looks so unusual? It’s so minimal yet still edgy, which is exactly the finishing touch this look needed.

And, a little treat, I’m giving y’all the chance to feel as special and “posh” as I did when I wore this outfit, by giving you the chance to win a Just B Belle handbag, too! The lucky winner will receive a Noir Beauty Handbag worth £250 just like mine, sent straight to you from designer Julien Belle himself, which comes with every detail you will ever desire in a handbag, including a portable phone charger(!) – I know, amazing.
