Outfit of the Day: Monochrome and Fringing

Evening kittens, a bit of a late Outfit of the Day (or night!) for y’all today but I’ve been so busy this week it’s my first chance at getting one to you. In fact, I’m pawing my eyes as we speak because I’m feeling a little sleepy but I’m gonna bust this blog post out for ya before I go for a quick cat nap.

The weather this week has been all over the place – one min it’s sunny (yay!) and the next it’s rainy (nay) which is why I reckon this look is a pretty good transitional one. Not only is monochrome bang on trend for Spring/Summer 2013 but it’s perfect for inbetween days like today when you don’t wanna look too summery. Pairing monochrome with fringing combines two huge Summer trends together but the dark shades allow for you to get away with this even when it’s a little on the dull side. Plus, I can always pop my Prada Baroque sunglasses from Pretavoir in my handbag for when I might need them!

I’ve been dying to show y’all this stunning Fernworthy by Radley handbag for a couple of weeks now but wanted to save it for the perfect outfit. Although this absolutely gorgeous half moon bag goes with pretty much any look, I definitely think the woven detail and tassled zip compliment the fringing on this black bolero jacket to a tee. I really can’t tell you how beautiful the details on this Fernworthy is – I mean, it takes over three hours to hand weave each individual dome bag. Personally, I love owning unique items and I love knowing that each of these Radley bags has had it’s own individual touch.

The last time I wore this jacket was to Birmingham International Fashion Week (view my event coverag here) and the outfit was completely different, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it transition so nicely from a statement piece to part of an overall look. It just adds a little extra to a plain black vest top without overpowering the patten on my Missi trousers. These trousers have been a lifesaver these past few weeks – ideal for work, where I want to look smart-casual but still fashionable, especially when it can get so warm in the office. As an added bonus, they’re super comfortable, too! For more, be sure to follow Missi – they’re British wholesalers – on their Twitter page here.

For footwear, I popped on my Parasol Blaze sandals from Clarks as part of their “Free Your Feet” campaign. I don’t think I’ve work Clarks since primary school but now I understand why my mum wouldn’t buy anything less than this brand for me – these are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned! They even include padding on the heel and ball of the sole to ensure your tootsies don’t get tired and trust me, they don’t. Who would have guessed these combination coloured buckle gladiator sandals were Clarks? I’m converted.

What do y’all think of this outfit kittens? Do you think it’s summery enough for June or do you reckon I should embrace colour more? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
