Outfit of the Day: Tie Dye & Studs

Top: Cut & Sew – Handbag: La Moda – Heels: Prodigy Red – Leggings: Dresses For Breakfast
Necklace: Primark – Rings: Various

Hello kittens, it’s time for another for another Outfit of the Day video post and what better way is there to create a slap-bang on trend look than to include tie dye and studs in one outfit? Well, I’m not sure there is one!

As y’all can see in my latest video (pictures to follow!) I’ve taken inspiration from the Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks to create an on trend – yet still pretty unusual – stylish look. From Wildfox to Lazy Oaf, tie dye has been, well, quite literally, all over the shop! I love brands that bridge the high street to the high end and these two clothing labels do it well, whilst also remaining edgy and fashion forward.

However, I gotta admit, both Wildfox and Lazy Oaf are way out of my budget at the moment (boo!) but fortunately, I’ve managed to find a pretty purrrfect alternative to get my paws on (yay!). This rainbow bright creation from Cut and Sew is a pocket-friendly alternative to the higher end brands, yet I would argue that it actually has added value thanks to it’s handmade origin and limited edition status.

In fact, only ten of these tops were ever made and I feel so lucky to be number two of ten. The brand makes the most of this cute fact by numbering each garment – I love being number two “for joy” and I love that you won’t just find someone else walking down the street in this. Independent fashion designers all the way! Plus, the lovely people at Cut & Sew were so kind they’ve given all my kittens 20% off until 31st May with the code LILY20 – enjoy!

Although already pretty fierce, I toughened up the tie-dye and added a bit of extra texture by teaming it with my leather-look leggings from Dresses for Breakfast (see my other blog posts on the brand here and here). I love clashing materials and the cotton contrasted with the leather makes for a perfect daytime-to-nighttime look. Plus, here in Manchester we’re currently still  transitioning from winter to spring. Pretty ridiculous, I know, but Mancunia is famous for it’s rain and wearing black with bright colours makes it easy to have an outfit ready for both sun and rain… Mostly rain.

To complete the outfit, I accessorised with my favourite embellishment of the season, studs! Studs, studs, studs – I love ’em and I can’t see myself getting bored of them for a while yet. My favourite heel-less high heels from Prodigy Red suited the edgy look perfectly (check them out styled different here, here, here and here), especially when worn with my bag-of-the moment from La Moda. As you’ve already seen in a couple of event posts, I’ve already worn my La Moda handbags to the STLYE Etc Spring Party and the Risk Couture Store Opening. I’ve been practically living out of this beautiful bucket handbag – not only is it the perfect size to take all I need to work, but it’s fashionable enough to wear out to events after work too. Really is the ideal handbag for me!

So kittens, what do you think of this high end label inspired outfit? Are you still loving studs? Is tie-dye too bright for you? I wanna hear it all, so leave me a comment below and let me know!
