Get The Label Urban Party

Evening, kittens! It’s Friday night – the perfect time to tell you about a super duper fun party I attended last week, namely the Get The Label Urban Party at NQ2022. It was in celebration of Get The Label’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection and around 30 bloggers from around the Manchester area were invited to come view their items.
Now, I gotta be honest with ya as I always am – I didn’t hold out much hope for this. Anything that calls itself an “Urban Party” rings alarm bells in my head as being probably as far away from my personal style as possible. Anyway, I decided to give it a whirl and thought I’d stop by for ten minutes…
Well, I can’t tell y’all how wrong I was! I ended up staying for a couple of hours and having an absolute blast. As you’ve probably gathered from my blog, I attend a lot of events but I can happily put the GTL Urban Party up there with the best of ’em. I can safely say it was such a pleasant surprise and easily one of my favourite evenings I’ve had in a long time – thanks so much for having me, GTL!
Although the theme wasn’t to my personal taste (Get The Label aimed to bring the Urban/Hip-Hop era to life by creating a Manhattan-styled backdrop) I ended up really loving the night. There was so much to do which made the time pass so quickly and I wished it would have carried on longer! As an example, we were all invited to take part in a ‘Style Challenge’, dressing GTL’s models in outfits selected from the rails to be in with a chance of winning the whole look. Unfortunately, I didn’t win (boo!) but it was so fun getting the chance to style someone else for a change.
We were also all invited to take part in a “Blog Brag”, where a video diary area was set up. I recorded a short video with the lovely camera crew, which I’m told will be posted over Get The Label’s social media very soon. I’m excited to see how it looks – as y’all know, I’m really comfortable filming as much as possible for my own Youtube channel, but it’s a bit different with a group of professionals watching you!
Not only were GTL kind enough to give us generous goodie bags, all of the bloggers who attended were handed 3 tags and set free to roam the multiple rails of clothes and displays of shoes and accessories to pick out 3 samples to be sent for review. I was in my element! Although when I looked at the website before the event I as pretty underwhelmed, assuming there was a focus of sportswear and fitness items, but again I was pleasantly surprised. Although there was definitely a proliferation of sports brands, such as Nike and Adidas, there were also fashion brands such as Glamorous, Lipsy and AX Paris.
However, the highlight of the event had to be the relaxed atmosphere and lovely people in attendance. Not only was it great to catch up with all my favourite blogger ladies, the Get The Label staff were all so welcoming and friendly. I really can’t praise them enough for taking the time to speak to all of us bloggers and make sure we were all well fed (on cupcakes and canapes) and watered (on Prosecco!), as well as speaking to us about the brand. I made an effort to try and say thanks to everyone at the end of the event – but if I missed you, thank you! Also thanks to Jay Cain, GTL photographer as although most of these pics are mine, I’ve pinched a couple of his, too.
Now kitty cats, on to what I wore! No event post is complete without a quick outfit run down and, as usual, I had to come straight from work so was a little more toned down than I might usually have been. As I was at work, I wore these simple black skinny jeans and my beloved Cloggs chelsea boots to keep my look smart yet relatively casual. However, the main event (teehee, event, geddit?) has to be my stunning silk shirt from Choies. This is my first item from their store and I was overwhelmed with the quality of it – not to mention the unusual vintage-esque pattern, combining my favourite pattern leopard print with bright pink flower detail. It really is stunning! I completed the look and donned some hip-hop themed jewellery, adding my thick chain necklace from Primark with my new favourite jewellery addition, this petitie curb chain necklace from MVintage Jewels.
