Oversized Stripy Shirt

This is a typical work outfit for me. In fact, it’s actually the outfit I wore when I went for an interview for my new job… And well, it must have worked, as I got it! If I’m not wearing a swing dress, I’m usually wearing skinny jeans and a patterned blouse for work. They’re what I always reach for and although I have variations for both, this oversized stripy shirt is always one of my favourites.

I rarely ever wear a t-shirts or any tops without a collar; I just find blouses and shirts to not only look smarter, but suit me better. For days when I don’t want to look too formal, an oversized shirt is just the ticket. It gives me all the comfort I need and adds a casual element to the look, whilst still providing me with a structured collar to pair with blazers and skinny jeans for meetings.

I don’t have many plain oversized shirts – I like to experiment with different colours and patterns and popping on a top over skinny jeans is just such an easy way of doing that. Most of my shirts are floral or smaller prints, but when I discovered this vertical stripe blouse from Topshop I just fell in love. The combination of white, black and blue stripes just adds something different and I feel it’s very ‘me’. It also goes perfectly with this longline jacket, which makes smartening up for business meetings very easy indeed!
