Revs De Cuba Manchester Relaunch 2019

Revs De Cuba Manchester Relaunch Summer 2019

Revs De Cuba on Peter Street feels like it’s been in Manchester forever. It’s pretty much an establishment at this point, not least for frozen daiquiris or being the last place open for a boogie on a Saturday night out. Over the years I’ve had dates there, Christmas parties and bottomless brunches with pals. Recently, it shut during summer for a refurb and so when they invited us in for a sneak peek and to try out their new tapas menu, of course I had to pop in. It would be rude not to!

On first look, the ground floor of Revs De Cuba Manchester doesn’t look that different after it’s refit. It now has more bar seating and a bit more of a stage for live performances which are going to ply a bigger part in the bar-come-restaurant’s events menu. Other than that it’s pretty similar – which is fine, there was nothing wrong with it before.

We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco and watched a cocktail making demonstration, before being taken to a long table ready for the relaunch lunch. There we ordered some of Revolucion De Cuba’s signature cocktails; I obviously chose a frozen strawberry daiquiri as I do every time I visit. They are so sweet, refreshing and dangerously disguise the alcohol. One to many of these on a lunch break and it would be lethal – the office wouldn’t know what would be happening if I’d come back in singing!

We were recommended to choose between 2-4 dishes each if planning on sharing bits and bobs. Some of my favourites were the croquettes and obviously Patatas Bravas (basic but beautiful). There is also a good proportion of vegetarian and even vegan tapas available, which is really positive to see. Everything we tried was delicious and left us fill to the brim with delicious Cuban style tapas and cocktails ready to face the afternoon.
