Spring Skincare Secrets

IMG_9270

As the seasons change, I like to switch up my skincare routine. Sure, some items will always stay the same (moisturisers and eyecream are usually my old favourites) but for the more seasonally effected items (showergels and serums to name a few), I like to ring the changes. Here are some of my favourite items for Spring and Summer 2016, as well as some of my Spring Skincare Secrets.

As serums are just one part of my skincare routine, I find that I can easily switch these up every so often and not have any breakouts. In fact, by changing them every so often I tend to notice a subtle glow in my skin, as though it’s been refreshed! Right now, I am absolutely loving the Energy Bank Skin Glow by thisworks. It’s brand new out and although thisworks are usually known for their nighttime routine items, this beautifully scented serum is meant to be used in the mornings to give yourself a glow – and that it does!

At night, I’ve been enjoying using the Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Serum by Jurlique. Wearing this under my night cream, it helps to restore the skin’s epidermal defences and protect against irritation. This is particularly good if I’ve spent a little too long in the sun, as it contains an anti-redness formula.

Once a week, I’ve been using the JASON Apricot Scrubble to exfoliate my face. Although you can’t use this too often, it’s good to clear any dead skin cells off your face every so often, to allow new cells to grow. For more everyday use, I’ve been popping the Burts Bees Honey Lip Balm to moisturise my lips inbetween lip colours. This hydrating formula is all natural and helps to protect the lips from the sun.

My Spring 2016 bath time essentials have also had a switch-a-roo! For everyday use, I’ve been using a limited edition Original Source shower gel; it’s the Hibiscus and Pomegranate Tea scent – nice and fruity and just what you need to wake you up in the morning! However after a hard day at work I often like to run myself a hot bath and to soothe my aching muscles I am loving Kneipp bath crystals. Again, these are a lovely natural product and great for helping you chill out for the evening.

Finally, if I’m getting my legs out in the sun (or arms, more likely!), I always make sure to pop on some SPF sun cream. It’s SO important to protect your skin from the sun, but by popping on sun cream it means you can still sit out and not have to hide in the shade. At the mo I’m using Delph Sun Lotion which is rated UV* for it’s great protection level and is SUCH a bargain at around a fiver. As a pale baby, I usually use SPF50 to make sure no harmful rays are getting down to my ghostly skin!

For Spring bodycare, I have been really enjoying Lotil. As an affordable brand (less than a tenner for their original moisturiser), it’s a bargain and ideal for popping in your bag for your holidays. Lotal Original is a great multipurpose moisturiser but I especially like it as a handcream on my desk. At the other end of the spectrum, the Lotal Food Cream is just as good and does an excellent job at prepping your tootsies for a pedi at a bargain price.
