The Day After VOGUE’s Fashion Night Out: RBE Film

Hey kittens. Wow, can you believe it’s the day after Vogue’s Fashion Night out in Manchester? And what a day it was! I can safely say it was one of the busiest (if not THE busiest) yet most amazing days of my life. I never thought that blogging would bring me such amazing opportunities (inlcuding meetingVOGUE) but this year has been a whirlwind and yesterday was testament to that.

After the free-flowing Prosecco all day (and night!) yesterday, I’m not gonna lie, my head is a little fuzzy and I wasn’t sure if I’d be up to posting another daily blog as part of my VOGUE #FNO Manchester blog series. However, I just had to let y’all in on what I was up to yesterday…

In between press calls and invites, the lovely people at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel invited me to create an exciting film for them. When they told me it was to promote all things “Manchester’ and all things “FASHION” I immediately jumped at the chance. Plus, it was a sneaky excuse to look inside the hotel, which is inside Manchester’s historic Free Trade Hall. Heck yeah!

To start the day, I was invited to Selfridges’ personal shopping department to have free reign over the whole store, choosing any items to make up three favourite looks of mine. Yep, that’s right, anything I wanted to make up three looks (no, I didn’t get to keep them!) I never thought I’d have trouble going shopping, but I’m surprised to say it was a hard decision. I was so out of my comfort zone, picking out pieces from Alexander McQueen, Mary Katrantzou and Marc Jacobs was more difficult than I thought – I mean, I actually got to touch them!

After picking out three top looks – I chose an amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs jumpsuit, an amazing lust-have Mary Katrantzou shirt dress and my final outfit, a preppy-yet-edgy look featuring some incredible Alexander McQueen heels. Doesn’t my gorgeous model Rachel look beautiful? I felt like the final outfit was very Manchester representative; smart-casual with that little bit of blingy edge. As everyone else said, it was very “me”!

The ever-so-lovely Lucy of Lulutrixabelle was also part of the film, and it was such a pleasure to actually meet her properly – hello, blogger idol! She was able to give her view of Manchester fashion vs London fashion and also picked out a couple of looks, which she based on “front row” suitable outfits. I gotta say, her looks were very “her” as well! Georgina (the personal stylist from Selfridges) thought it was kinda funny we both styled our looks as items we’d wear when she is so good at choosing items to match her clients’ personalities. But, like I said in my Cosmo Blog Awards post, I think style is SUCH a personal thing.

After choosing our favourite outfits at Selfridges, we all headed back to the hotel and into the Opus One bar/restaurant for the Selfridges’ Style Lounge, where we were interviewed as to the rationale behind our looks and what we loved about Manchester. Obviously, I sang Manchester’s praises and said how delighted we all are that the first Vogue Fashion Night Out in Britain outside of London was happening here. As y’all know, I love making Youtube videos over on my channel (subscribe here for free!) and so I really had so much fun making this video. It really helped that everyone was so lovely and friendly – shout out to Will the camerman!

The plan of the day was to bring a couple of friends and have our hair and makeup done back at the hotel before going out for #VFNO, so I invited two of my best friends, Mel and Sarah, along for the afternoon. Unfortunately, I was so busy filming that I missed out on the MAC make-up artist (and even missed a couple of press calls for Vogue – boo!) but Mel and Sarah were very impressed with their makeovers. I’m biased – I reckon they look gorgeous all the time! As the hotel is has the Sienna spa with eight treatment rooms, a huge swimming pool, (the only one of its kind in a central Manchester hotel) and a whole host of fancy spa rooms – steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, Resul steam cleansing room, make-up room and nail bar – it only seemed appropriate. Hopefully I’ll get to try them all out soon!

Despite not having much (if any!) time to chill, I was given the Bassey Suite to get ready in. I was so excited to know that it was named after Shirley Bassey, one of of the many stars who performed in the Free Trade Hall during its years as a world-famous music and theatre venue. Inside the suite was just absolute heaven – so luxurious and now I’m desp to stay in one of the 12 London hotels they own too! It was located on the top floor and aside from being proper fancy, its selling point was definitely a covered terrace set within the Free Trade Hall’s original brick façade – I mean, the view was just WOW!

Over all, I had an absolutely wonderful day and it was a pleasure to help out with such a cool project, especially at such a huge Manchester landmark such as the Radisson Blu Edwardian Free Trade Hall Hotel. Apparently the footage was also on the BBC and ITV news, but I’ve not seen it myself! I’ve also done a little vlog of my whole #VFNO day/night which will come just as soon as I get a second to edit it, but I couldn’t wait to share this with y’all so it just HAD to go up today!

So kittens, what do you think of the video? I hope you like it! Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
