Getting a pug puppy was not something that I rushed into – for 5 years or more I have adored the breed for their outgoing and mischievous personality, their caring nature and their sense of humour. Yep, it’s true, they really do have a fantastic sense of humour! I have been doing a lot of research over a number of years, getting myself prepared for all eventualities, covering myself in case (God forbid) anything might happen. Yes, although they are brilliant companions, pugs are known for being susceptible to health issues, so I wanted to make sure I could provide a healthy home and be in a position where I could cover any vets bills. And trust me, getting a puppy is expensive; there are so many extras to think of – vaccinations, worming, food, crates, pens, toys, bedding and obedience classes.
I have researched everything; food, behaviour, health issues, training, exercise and the best way to care for a pug baby. I wanted to make sure I had all bases covered so I felt ready when it would actually be time. Similarly, when looking for my Sonny I also didn’t rush into anything – absolutely no puppy farms or dodgy dealing. I was absolutely adamant that whatever pug I took on would have to come from a loving and healthy home, and I am so pleased that Sonny was so very well looked after before he came to his forever home last Saturday (14th November). I have taken him for a routine vets check up and they are pleased with how healthy and settled he is.
From the first moment I saw him I was besotted. He is so outgoing and confident, he is a cheeky chappy and of course, absolutely adorable. He is also so sociable and loves meeting new people – he will greet you as though he’s known you all his life and jumps on anyone for cuddles and a spot of face licking. When I took him home I was told he was ‘confident’ and he definitely is – which I love! I know I might be biased but I honestly believe he is the cutest puppy ever – I mean, how can you argue with those eyes?!

Going forward, I plan to share my journey with Sonny on my blog, so please do let me know what sort of updates you would like to see and what tips (if any) you would enjoy for caring for an 8 week old pug puppy. I can’t wait to share him growing up with you all.
